Born in Amarillo, TX, Jon moved to Nashville and attended Belmont University. A young song plugger named Jenny Gill opened the first door to a music career by signing Jon to a staff writing deal with ZMG music. While at ZMG music, Jon's first ten songs were recorded as an EP by producers Russ Zavitson and Ed Seay. This project was released at all digital outlets in the fall of 2008. Less than a month after the project was finished, a song on the project was recorded by an artist on Warner Brothers Records.
In August of 2010, Jon signed with EMI nashville. In 2012 EMI and Sony ATV combined forces, and Jon Currently writes at Sony ATV Nashville.
Artists who have recorded Jon's songs include Thompson Square (single 2012), Dierks Bentley (Single 2012), Tim Mcgraw, Chris Young, JT Hodges (Single 2012), Janna Kramer, Hanne Sorvaag (Single 2012) Joe Nichols, The Invite, Ryder Lee, Brett Eldredge, Franklie Ballard, Dean Alexander, Sweethearts of the Rodeo, Blake Shelton, Rose Falcon, The Adam Craig Band, Walker Hayes, Ash Bowers, Ross Copperman, Mallary Hope, Hanne Sorvaag, Corey Crowder, Brandon Bolin, and other rising artists.
As an artist, he has shared the stage with Trisha Yearwood, Restless Heart, Leroy Parnell, Randy Owen, Lee Brice.
Jon's song "Glass" was featured in the show ""One Tree Hill". Jon's song and production of the song "You Get What You Pay for" was featured in the show "True Blood". Jon's song "Holding on and Letting Go" was the final song on CSI NY 2011 sung by Ross Copperman. In 2012 "Holding on and Letting Go" was featured on Vampire Diaries. He has a song recorded by TBone Burnett on the NBC TV series Nashville.
His vocals have been on Grammy and Dove nominated projects and feature films.
