John "Slawson" Finley Jr. hails from St.Louis, Missouri. Slawson lived his adolescent years in Laclede Town and Car Square Village, both small housing communities in St.Louis. His childhood experiences allowed him to form the foundation for what would later be his collection of music that depicts reality. Later in his childhood, Slawson and family relocated to the Hathaway South section of North County where his true journey would begin.



Slawson's love for music began with the typical exposure to his parents' music collection which consisted of 70's albums and 8-tracks. The change came when he befriended Sham, who would later go on with Zo to create the multi-platinum production team the TrakStarz. The two would hook up from time to time, writing and recording songs in Sham's studio. It was in these sessions that Sham would dub John as, "Slawson".



After a brief stint at Jackson State University, Slawson decided to return to St.Louis to pursue his career as an artist and producer, a journey that would take him through many struggles.



Slawson's musical career was born in those basement and garage sessions, but would later evolve through countless hours of solo sessions to bring him to his current artistic state.



Slawson's music can be described as being hip-hop, grounded in the reality of his life experiences. This encompasses everything from graphic street-level beats to vivid descriptions of everyday life. Slawson's demo features the title track "It's Our Turn", featuring J-Damage of local sensation "Out of Order" and "Iced Out", featuring Sham of the "TrakStarz".



His music is filled with witty lyricism, humor, and realistic depictions of life in St.Louis that give his listeners confirmation that "It's Our Turn"!!!!!!!
