Jo-L
The Pioneer of Sal-Fuzion - Salsa / Reggaeton
Born in New York city, to Puerto Rican parents, JO-L was raised in the Bronx, and in Luquillo, Puerto Rico. He began to sing at an early age of 4 years old at family gatherings. His eagerness for the art of the song was awakend in his childhood, when he would watch on television the performances of great entertainers like Tom Jones, Elvis Presley, and Michael Jackson. The power of the performances of these great entertainers with their amazing presence on stage was crucial for Jo-L in his development and musical formation. He had his first professional opportunity during a tour, when he opened the shows for groups like "New Kids on the Block", "Brenda K. Starr ", "Will to Power" and "the Commodores". He then ran with the same luck in the Latin market and had the opportunity to open shows for Domingo Quiñones, Millie Quesada, Frankie Negrón, and La India, with his own group "Night and Day". This provides the opportunity for him to acquire the experience that he needed as a performer. He was now ready to explore new artistic avenues. Jo-l then chose to leave the group and to experiment as a solo artist. Jo-l writes, arranges, composes and produces most of his material, In his first production as a solo artist entitled "Rompiendo Reglas"(Breaking Rules) Jo-L creates his own musical genre "Sal-Fuzion" which is a fusion of salsa, reggaeton, R&B and HipHop. With this production, Jo-L wishes to present a visual show as much as musical, where his public has the opportunity to see a show with choreography, dancers, outfits, D.J., lighting effects and a great orchestra. This way, Jo-L wishes to target the youth that normally does not listen to Latin music, to help expose Latin music to other countries and to the rest of the United States. The production team of this album includes Luis Columna, Luisito Quintero and Guianko Gomez, the vocal producer of Marc Anthony and composer of Charlie Cruz and Kevin Ceballo. Jo-L teamed up with veteran composer Manny Mercado to write the rest of the songs of the album, which promises to fulfill its musical objective. Jo-l was one of the the featured artist during the 2005 latin billboard awards showcase that took place in Miami,FL. By the end of the same year he started his international career with a performance at the world famous Feria de cali in cali Columbia. His success during the event opened doors for him in panama, where he took his sal-fuzion in the beginning of 2006, with a promotional tour, and two shows to the popular festival La Chorrerra. Jo-l is also host of his own television show called the DaKlick. which is a latin urban show filled with hot videos, slammin performances, and intimate interviews. The show airs every thursday night at 12:30 am on Telemundo International, Latv, MasMusica, and on saturday nights at 12:30 am Mega TV channel 22."The show is about latin power and our influence to the rest of the world" says the singer/host. Also co-hosting with Jo-l is Melanie Byron the ex-host of the very popular show The Roof. Jo-l also opened up for The world famous salsa band El Gran Combo De Puerto Rico and Yomo Toro at a private affair in New Jersey. On his first solo album Jo-l has taken salsa, reggaeton, and the Hiphop genre and given it a refreshingly, latin twist. With his new sound Sal-fuzion Jo-l is sure to start Breaking Rules!
