New music is packaged and delivered to fans through a series of database queries and comparisons, based on previously purchased tracks, proving all too well that everything sounds the same as everything else these days.
‘In Depth’ is not an album that conforms to this mechanical manner of suggestive selection. Johnny Depth is not from the same class of usual predictability we have come to expect and rely on.
Depth’s debut album, produced in 2007, is a collection of ten tracks, each demonstrating different elements of Depth’s diverse talent, each taking the listener’s ear gently, guiding them through unknown, but by no means unpleasant territory.
Depth’s mix of intricate piano pieces mixed with unique synths and bad ass beats, twinned with thought provoking lyrical truths, which are told with vocals that sit pleasantly in each individual composition, make ‘In Depth’ an experience like no other.
Two years on from ‘In Depth’ and the world has become a much more cynical and sinister place, rich in nothing but strife and despair. But hardship can encourage the very best out of us, and Depth, aka Tony Macada is no exception. The winter of 2009 sees a man struggling, but surviving, and fighting; a man passionate about making music that makes people happy.
Ready to release you of any and all woes, Depth is working towards new music, including a second album. The entertaining and eventful shows will be more frequent, and more widespread. Instead of giving up when times are rough, Depth will be giving you more, so much more.
