Formed at the end of 1997 in the midst of the bands Hard To Swallow, Revolt, Health Hazard and Suffer, John Holmes (Gords, Dale, Bri and Sned) agreed that hardcore music needed have a band that played dirty, with more rock influences, yet still be pissed off about the shit state of the human race and have a sense of humour. Rehearsing out of the awesome 1in12 club in Bradford, we spent the next three years touring and playing accross Europe, with bands/friends like Dropdead, His Hero is Gone, Iron Monkey, Hard To Swallow, Detestation, and a right mixed-bag of various shite. The Album 'El Louso Suavo,' and a split 7" came out during this time. After a European show in France 1999, Sneda left to go and do his fast band thing. Mick replaced him on drums. More European tours, more UK shows and a couple of new bits of equipment and Mick hitting the drums like a bastard led to us making the 'Holmes versus The Kabinboy' split LP. In 2001 we played loads of one-off shows, went to Europe, had an up-tight bass player who didn't drink and started to write the next album with a more driving feel. 2002 Gave rise to the recording of 'Everything Went Blacker', for London's Household Name Records. which came out 2003. Mid-2004 Mick was out (don't ask it's a filthy old tale!!) and Steve (former Heresy) was in as a stand-in: more touring, more shows, same as before. Jan 2005 Steve out, and audition , audition etc. Finally, Wally was gven his new second name of Holmes as our Drummer. Presently, after seven long years of squats, shit, broken down vans, free food and drink, occasional drug habits, bedbugs!!! and a lot of fucking about, we are back to write another album and about to get back in the van.

Cheers to all the former members of the Holmes, those who have helped us in any way. Next plan is to rebook the cancelled 2003 US tour caused by the drummer shiteboss at that time. Sorry to all those we messed about there!! The shiny heads of Leather go on!!

UPDATE: Jan 8th 2006.

The Holmes finished: there's a story to this, those close will know those not will just have to figure it all out. Cheers to all for the awesome support given to us thoughout our eight years of gigs, records: yous know who you are. To date Bri is now singing for Bastards of War. Gords now sings for Geriatric Unit. Dale has new projects planned.
