Bio:
Formed and based in Belgium, five members of Shantalla are Irish, while singer Helen Flaherty is Scottish. Their first CD, 'Shantalla', was released in Belgium in 1999 and their second 'Seven Evenings, Seven Mornings' in 2001.

In 2009, after a five year break during which the members went their separate ways, playing and recording in different formations, Shantalla reformed, adding bouzouki & guitar player Simon Donnelly to the line-up.

Their third CD Turas - an Irish word meaning journey -- was released in 2011.

Instruments:
Simon plays Lowden and Takamine guitars and Fylde bouzouki.
Kieran plays an old east-european fiddle, his viola is self-made and he uses a French Petino bow.
Helen plays Brendan White and Chrisitan Hedwitschak Bodhrans.
Joe plays a Takamine "Thunder and Lightning" special edition guitar.
Michael plays a Robbie Hughes set of pipes (maintenance and reeds by Marc van Dael) and a Sam Murray flute.
Gerry plays a Castragnari Magica piano accordion (tuning & maintenance by Louis Spagna).
Gerry & Michael play Mike Burke low "D" and "Bb" whistles and Collin Goldie low "F" & mezzo "A" whistles.
