Jody van Ooijen started drumming at the age of 4. Spoon-feed by his father and grandfather who were / are also drummers. His very first experience with a band came when he was in secondary school, where he played with various school bands. Things went faster after that. Jody started a band with friends, which band came to be known as Coup de Grace. With that, he played for a long time. Thereafter, it was the band “The Strikes” that kept Jody busy. With “The Strikes” he played at the larger festivals/concert halls at home and abroad, such as Noorderslag, Northsea Jazz, Moulin Blues, Bluesfestival Peer, Muziekfestival Curacao, 013, Paradiso, Tivoli, Jazz and Blues and jazz Rally Luxemburg, amongst others.



At the moment:

Jody started off in 2008 at the academy of music in Utrecht where he studied percussion at the Jazz / Pop department. Here he received instruction under the tutelage of Andre Groen and Joost Kesselaar.



Jody also gives lessons in drumming and plays for the American singer and blues queen Dede Priest, Coup de Grace and The Shiner Twins both at home and abroad.

Jody spent the past couple of years playing with The Strikes, Duke Robillard, Alex Schultz, Dede Priest, Monster Mike Welch, Mitch Kashmar, Guitar Ray, Hook Herrera, Scott McKeon, Memo Gonzalez, James Harman, Gene Taylor, Oscar Benton, Debby Lee, Matt Schofield, Brian Templeton, amongst others.
