Happy 2013 everyone!
Throughout 2013, I'll be releasing a live video each week, of one of my fifty published songs; plus two wildcard songs (will they be covers, reinterpretations or new material? stay tuned.). This will be available via my YouTube channel, soundcloud, facebook, Twitter, here of course, and on mah website, jockys52.com (some construction still being done on the latter).
Going back a bit, there's an album called My Heart's In The Humber which came out in 2006, self-released and still available. The reason why my heart was in the Humber is that I lived in Hull for three years from 2001 to 2004 as a student and wrote many of the tunes in that period. It's a lovely place, Hull, but I moved to Glasgow in mid 2004, to be nearer friends and familhy. Also, Hull's finest, the Housemartins and Cracktown are great.
I've also got a double album, Motorways Died Young/This Is Not Just Food, This Is Not Even Food, which is available via Wise Blood Industries, itunes, or if you contact me. The reason that motorways died young is, in my opinion, that they could never last- some things really are too convenient to be true (i.e. convenient things in general).
Historically, the Myspace bio has always read:
"Jocky Venkataraman makes tunes which are meant to sound like his, ahem, heroes who include Malcolm Middleton, Peter Tatchell and the Beautiful South. They are basically DIY folk rock. Jocky speaks: "I hope people will enjoy the songs. I certainly do. Please feel free to send me your music so that I can see what I'm up against. If you live nearby and want to come and watch a JV gig, then hopefully I'll be able to help."
