Joanne hails from Thornton, Lancashire. She studied at the Royal Northern College of Music graduating with Bmus hons. Jo then gained a scholarship from the D’Oyly Carte opera company for further postgraduate studies at the RNCM.



Jo spent four years with the Glyndebourne Festival and Touring Chorus where she understudied the role of Jano in “Jenufa”. During this time she performed in many recitals, oratorio and master classes. She has also sung with Carl Rosa opera (Phyllis,“Iolanthe”), Diva Opera (Ida,“Die Fledemaus”), London voices and for Raymond Gubbay productions.



Jo was signed by Sony BMG as an original member of the opera band “Amici Forever”. With Amici she has sung in prestigious venues worldwide, toured extensively promoting the multi platinum selling albums “Defined” and “The Opera Band” and has performed live on radio and television in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Europe and the USA. Jo also features on the debut album of Sony BMG artist Joseph Mc Manners.



Since her departure from Amici Jo has toured Australia, Dubai and New Zealand as a soloist with The Morriston Orpheus Male voice choir (2007) as well as enjoying a busy concert schedule, (proms in the park with the RPO, Cathcart prom at RAH with the RPO, “A night at the Opera” tour with Calibre productions etc). Jo returned to Glyndebourne to understudy the role of Micaela, Carmen in their 2008 festival.

Last year (2009) Jo joined the RPO as soloist to sing at Rochester castle and Glastonbury Abbey. Other concerts have included; “A night at the Opera” calibre productions, “Classical” cruise for P&0 (SWA), Guest artist for comedian Pam Ann at Hammersmith Apollo, and concerts in support of the duke of Edinburgh international award association at Windsor castle.



This year Jo appeared at the 02 Arena in Raymond Gubbay’s production of Carmen . Solo performances include Verdi’s Requiem (Dover Choral) society, concerts for the RPO (Glastonbury abbey, Canary Warf as well as a number of private events) and concerts with the National Symphony Orchestra and Sussex Symphony orchestra. She will perform in private events in Moscow, Italy, Monte Carlo and London this autumn and has recently been asked to appear regularly at the Prestigious Savoy Hotel, London.
