Prolific singer-songwriter Jesse Marroquin has long been heralded as one of Tejano’s music’s brightest stars. His many talents have taken him even further, as Marroquin has transcended genres to become one of the most successful artists in South Texas earning him the title of South Texas Male Vocal Performer of the year in 2006. To date, Marroquin has written, recorded and released more than 100 songs, a benchmark in any artist’s career. An astounding one-third of these songs eligible for major single release also achieved hit song status at Tejano radio station. While it’s well-known that Marroquin is an accomplished singer and guitarist, people may be surprised to learn that he is also proficient in Country music. Marroquin’s continued success can be attributed in part to his deep sense of Country music history, and his humble gratitude in being an important part of it. Jesse was born and raised in Benavides, Texas, and is fluent in English and Spanish, which consequently makes him comfortable with different musical styles. With such a long and productive career, Marroquin still keeps his output as fresh now as when he was a hungry, up-and-coming artist. When he felt that his music was in danger of becoming a bit repetitive in the early 2000’s, Marroquin took a brave risk and shook things up by revealing he will now be working on a English Country cross-over album to be released late this year. Marroquin’s highly anticipated debut Country cross over with his new musical group Jesse Marroquin and South by the Border band , has received great critical acclaim from fans throughout the United States as well as in Mexico. "My uncles and my dad were musicians, they used to gather around the fire on weekends, especially on holidays, and play until five in the morning," Marroquin recalled. Marroquin began writing his own songs by the age of 15 and at the age of 19 recorded his own album. He describes his music as Regional Mexicano, Norteno, and now Country. Marroquin said he has fans of all ages. "My music attracts any age group," he said. "I've seen little boys wanting to play the accordion on stage with the band, they are our future."
