As a child, J KiDD’s path began humbly enough with a passion for entertaining others. By the time he was a teenager, this passion manifested into a love of both sports and music.

In high school, J KiDD became a star point guard and faced a full ride to the number-one basketball Junior College. But just when music was about to take the bench, fate changed the game plan. A friend introduced J KiDD to xP Musik, a St. Louis recording house where he eventually met St. Louis’ underground king Jus Bleezy. The fight to balance life on the court and life in the studio had begun.

Soon enough, J KiDD started writing hooks for Jus Bleezy, who was immediately blown away by his raw talent. As such, Bleezy hooked J KiDD up with the chance to open a show for rap legends 8Ball and MJG.

After delivering a knock-out performance, the buzz began to brew and J KiDD was left with a life-changing decision. Even though he had a scholarship in the bank, it was music that was truly in his heart. J KiDD hung up his jersey and swapped focus from the sport he had grown up playing to making the music that would define his future.

His next big break came after nailing the hook on Jus Bleezy’s track, “Bosses,” which featured rap stars Gorilla Zoe and Yo Gotti. His reward? A spot on the 17-city “Go Hard or Go Home” tour, an event that segued J KiDD into opening for established artists such as: Lil Wayne, Bun B, Ludacris, T-Pain, Trey Songz, Yung Joc, and Lil Boosie.

After his stint on the sell-out tour, J KiDD dropped his first mixtape entitled “The Preseason,” featuring the hit single, “Exclusif.” The track earned immediate play-time on both the radio and the dance floor. It was even picked up by Derrty Ent artist, Murphy Lee, who dropped a verse on it. The song is now a DJ-favorite club remix, played all throughout the Midwest.

Four hundred songs and three years later, J KiDD is currently stationed in Chicago, where he has teamed up with Chicago production group, Instant Entertainment. On a mission to combine his unique St. Louis demeanor with some of Chicago’s hottest talents, the collaboration aims to evolve the rap genre entirely.

J KiDD’s mixtape featuring the new sound is set to drop in the summer of 2010.
