Jazz Me Blues (my band) - Honeysuckle Rose - Video
PUBLISHED:  Feb 19, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
Recorded in 1982 at a Austin Friends of Traditional Music concert at the Paramount Theater with The Boys of the Lough headlining the show.

From the Program Notes:
Jazz Me Blues performs a wide spectrum of traditional American music, from rag time to early jazz. The group explores any and all aspects of " classic jazz": the likes of Fats Waller, Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, and Spike Jones. Jazz Me Blues was founded, on a lark, in May of 1980, and continues to grow and to perform the traditional styles of early jazz in 1982.
Christy Palumbo (now Foster), vocals and guitar, has been performing in Austin since 1976. Her first public appearance was at an Austin Friends of Traditional Music meeting held at the now defunct Split Rail. The only other original band member is Douglas Tabony, violin. On clarinet, saxophone, and various percussion instruments (ala spike Jones) is Jeff Barnes. Russel Scanlon shines on lead guitar, and Jim Spector weaves his melodic bass fiddle throughout each song. With the band tonight is Mike Ford, who adds his subtle touch on drums. Clarence, the Jazz Me Blues mascot, sits in on stage.

"Honeysuckle Rose" is a 1929 song composed by Fats Waller and lyrics were written by Andy Razaf. Waller's 1934 recording was inducted in the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999
