I started my career as the lead singer, and producer of the R&B group "By All Means" signed to Island Records in 1987 by Chris Blackwell we moved to Motown after 2 albums at Island Some of my producer credits include- Will Downing, Gerald Alston, Shanice Wilson, The Temptations, Dianna Ross, The Pointer Sisters, Gene Rice, Anita Pointer, Rosie Gaines,Brown Mark, The Dramatics, Terry Thomas, Ricky Fante, Waymon Tisdale, to name some of the artists, but what excites me most is developing new talent. My daughter Gabrielle "Elle" Varner 19, has blossomed into an incredible writer/producer/artist she is currently attending NYU studying music and business. She has recorded about 25 of her originals, they will be posted at various times so please check back for new music constantly, as we are always working, i have also been developing my godson, Bobby DeBarge III, age 16 also check for his new songs we are working on his debut album currently. Additionally, Clarin Davis is a phoenominal new voice that i am working with, she is only 15, but her vocals are incredible. Chelsea Tavares, 14 from the nickelodeon show unfabulous is another talent i am working with as well. i am currently in the studio with Keke Palmer (madea's family reunion, akeelah and the bee) for Atlantic Records i will use this page to preview new material, as well as promoting current releases, and paying tribute to some of my music from the past, and the incredibly talented artists i've had the pleasure of working with.
