Jimmy Crockett
biography
Jimmy Crockett is the consummate "Cadillac Man." Strolling in the room, strummin' keys and slanging grooves like a vintage car cruising 'round the highway bend. We can't help but catch the vibe and just ride right along with him. An eclectic collection of silky vocals over tracks that deliciously blend jazz, rock and funk infused R&B, his debut release, "Cadillac Man" is a trunk full of gems, hearkening seventies sensibilities. He pleasures our old school memories with rhythms that recall AWB meets Steely Dan. The "Cadillac Man" is cool. He's funky. And he's groovin'!
With this recent release on Pet Baja Records, the question is, who is this Cadillac Man penning songs that melt hearts and stir souls with the sound of his voice and storytelling abilities? Nominated by the Northern California Chapter of the Black Music Association & Academy of America for an 8th Annual Sacramento "Sounds Of Soul Music Award" in the categories Best Male R&B Performer, Best New Artist, and Entertainer of the Year, it becomes apparent this Cadillac Man is just getting started!
Simply put, Jimmy Crockett is a burgeoning lyrical "magician" and keyboardist, with a voice as soothing as hot chocolate on an ice-cold winter's night. Crockett began honing his vocal and songwriting skills in his youth, and wrote his "first real song" in high school. "I was always making up little melodies since I can remember. I started to add some words to my jingles when I was about 10," reveals Crockett.
Attributing his musical interests to his mother, Crockett stated, "My mother always had music in our house; Nat King Cole, The Mill's Brothers, and Mahalia Jackson." At just 12 years old, Crockett was compelled to take piano lessons being heavily influence by his favorite musical wonder, Ramsey Lewis.
While he was a high school junior, Crockett participated in sports and was injured during a game. After enduring his injury and successfully recovering, he went back to his first love, which was music. A creative writer with a vivid imagination, Crockett began to evolve into the songwriting storyteller that he is today, and he has never looked back.
Determined to live his dreams, Crockett is on the fast track to musical success with the release of "Cadillac Man." "I had actually recorded some of the songs years back, and I was always tickled when people would tell me how much they liked the songs and how the music made them feel good."

With sincere, heartfelt lyrics and enchanting rhythms, songs like "Feelin' Good" and "Stand On You" simple endear us. His incomparable musical perfection is further realized on the blues tinged track "She's Still Comin' Back," the rockin' "Cadillac Man" and the breezy "Fly Away." Nevada's KVMR, Swissgroove, Ozcat Radio and Jango are just a few of the radio outlets unleashing the thrill that is "Cadillac Man."
Crockett has played at various venues including JB's Lounge, Constable Jacks, Winstyle's, the Vina Castellano Winery, The Crest Theatre, The Copper Top, Tex Wasabi's, The Sports Garage, The Auburn Street Fair, Old Europe and Royer Park. His performances have captured the attention of musical greats such as Roger Smith, the famous keyboardist for Tower of Power.
Smith speaks highly of Crockett's extraordinary musical talents, "When I first heard his music, I felt that he was a great lyricist and songwriter combined with an extremely melodic /rhythmic vocal quality. We have collaborated on several songs that I feel will be hits in the contemporary market. Jimmy is a great untapped source of talent," stated Smith.
A compelling and authentic artist with a reputation for "telling it like it is," Crockett's inspiration for writing "Cadillac Man" came about during his brief stint as a gambler a few years ago. Captivated by gambler's lives, Crockett began writing about experiences that were close to home and his heart. Crockett's, "Tie with Me," "Bartender Lady," "Policeman," and "Betty's Song," are music reflections of his past experiences.
Crockett hopes to continue to create music that will inspire and have a positive impact on his steadily rising global fan base. His core message is, "Do the right thing and be a good person." Not bad advice coming from a "Cadillac Man" who knows!
