DESCRIPTION:
Jimmy Carl Black
(February 1, 1938 -- November 1, 2008)

Famed for his opening line "Hi Boys and Girls, I'm Jimmy Carl Black, and I'm the Indian of the group",  Jimmy Carl Black was the original drummer for the Mothers of Invention.
Having been with the band since its inception, when it went by the name of 'The Soul Giants' and had yet to recruit Frank Zappa, he was a key Mother from their debut 'Freak Out!' in 1966 to Uncle Meat in 1969, when Zappa disbanded the original unit. He also appeared on Burnt Weeny Sandwich, Weasels Ripped My Flesh and as an actor in Zappa's feature film
200 Motels (1971).

This interview took place in August 2008, and is the last long interview Jimmy participated in before passing away later that year. What a pleasure it was.
