Overview: Singer/Songwriter and founding member of the seminal (still does not mean "Full of semen", strangely) Industrial band Die Warzau, Jim Marcus has worked with artists in all genres, from Björk, to Revenge, Pansy Division, The Swans, Haloblack, Chris Connelly, KMFDM, 7 Red 7, Machines of Loving Grace, George Clinton, KMFDM, Everplastic, Gravity Kills, Pigface, Little Louis, Screaming Rachel, and on. Wonderland will be his first Solo Release. He is not a fan of doing things specifically under his own name, since it means you then have to keep hearing your own name. A lot.

Back to first person: I think I finally managed to get the music player to stop playing automatically whenever you load the page. Unsurprisingly, the answer was to do nothing and let the technical team at myspace figure it out for me. This worked so well, that I am planning to do the same for other areas of my life where I might have a complex problem that has no immediate solution. I do have wood floors that i can't ever seem to get completely clean and a dog that barks too much at night. I'm anxious to see how myspace plans to handle this.

Me and You: I know that there may be some creepy, sad, depressing music here, but that doesn't mean I'm a creepy, sad and depressed person. (although, for the most part, people who are severe, Mark-Foley-reptile-level creepy are always the first to stand up and say "Hey, I'm not creepy", so, I guess, take that with a grain of salt). I know that when you're young, especially, you can get lost in bigger feelings, swept up in how sad the world can be. Sometimes this is just because it's the job of young people to change the world and to do that they have to be able to see how truly fucked up it can be. It's pointless and facile to say "Don't be sad" in the face of that, but maybe it makes sense to say "Don't lose yourself in it all the way." You are important, more than you think, and maybe it's up to you to stand up and fix what you see.

Downloads: I'm working to finish the album "Wonderland" by March and have it available shortly after that. If anyone has a compelling reason why they need an MP3 copy of a song before then, please let me know. If it involves doing something special for someone you're in love with, the answer is probably yes.

Banners: You can't get rid of the advertising banners on Myspace using css but I would really like to plead with the people who run this site to use some discretion. Myspace probably makes upwards of a gilligan dollars every month. They can probably afford to recognize how difficult it is to do anything with dignity under an animated banner that says "Shoot the popstar and get 10 complimentary ringtones" I'm not convinced that the Bill of Rights would retain any authority under the banner "Are you a good kisser? Take the kissing quiz and see".

Myspace in General: I am a huge fan of this website, for the most part. I think it's a great way to give music back to people where it belongs and not record company executives. My time with the corporate music machine is pretty much over due to how effectively and consistently they have managed to use their resources, time and work to prevent people from listening to what they want to listen to. The primary reason to restrict yourself to any particular kind of category musically is to prevent music industry professionals from messing up the furniture when their heads explode. Since that's not neccessary, I can't really describe or explain what I'm trying to do here except to say that I want to make a record that people like me may want to turn the lights out and listen to.
