Whether Jim Hampton is playing a show for five, or five thousand, the conviction of his delivery, rich baritone vocal style, along with a passionate, energetic stage presence, and his ability to improve songs on the spot makes him a unique and exciting county artist. Last year he played nearly 300 shows, including honky-tonks, festivals, and fairs in the United States and Europe.
Now living in Nashville, Jim is the essence of a hillbilly cowboy. He grew up in southern Appalachia, North Georgia and East Tennessee. His past jobs have included being a backcountry horse guide, whitewater river guide, ski patrolman and fly fishing guide while playing honky-tonks at night.
He got his first guitar at age three, and like many artists he learned to sing in church, while listening to bluegrass, traditional country, rhythm & blues and of course Elvis.
From an early age songwriting came very easy to him. His style is reflected in the more serious songs about relationships like "What's The Matter With Me", to parody songs like "Karaoke Cowboy" to cultural songs like "Josephine Belle".Upon moving to Nashville, Jim landed a gig his first week and has been playing several gigs a week ever since. The surplus of honky-tonks in Nashville allows Jim to do what he loves the most… performing and meeting people from around the world.
Jim is currently writing and recording a new CD, while continuing to play live show in Nashville and on the road.
