Overcoming struggles in life can be the gateway for an artist to fearlessly use their talent to inspire their best and most honest work. For Jessica Ford, contemporary Gospel and Christian singer, her flawed past built the inner strength she needed to overcome suppression and abuse and project it back out into the world as heartfelt, inspirational music. Her single "I'm Not Broken", the title track to her upcoming album is her testimony of strength and unwavering faith. This Dove Award nominee knows, like so many others, that her past does not define who she is today. In spite of the obstacles that were put in her way, she is not "broken", but rather a human being deep in spiritual growth and healing. Jessica wants her fans to know that no matter what, they are not broken, and alongside some of Nashville's most talented musicians and writers such as Mike P., Keith Barrett Jr., Duane Deemer and the legendary Duane Hitchings she has written a collection of songs that remind us all that it is never to late to heal.
Ford, a California native, was born into a family of talented singers and musicians, supporting her love of singing from the time she was young. It did not take long for Jessica to begin gaining recognition for her "larger than life" voice. After years of performing in church, nursing homes, and school productions, Jessica won second runner up in the Miss California State Pageant and took home the award for "Most Inspirational Talent." She was the only contestant to ever receive a perfect score in the talent portion of the competition. As the years of performing went on, a love for creating and writing music began to evolve and Jessica knew the next step was to not only sing great music she wrote but to begin to co-write and express the thoughts and feelings in her own heart.
While writing songs of redemption and her love for Jesus have become her calling card, Jessica is no stranger to the rest of the world of music. She co-wrote 3 award winning songs that were placed in the children's animated film "Elf Sparkle Meets Christmas The Horse". One of the songs, "Waiting For Christmas Day," was recorded by Grammy Award winner Linda Davis. She has been honored with multiple awards including a Dove Nomination, the Alaska Film Festival Kodiak Award for "Best Children's Song In Film", USCAFA (United States Children's Animated Film Award) Crystal Award winner for the song "I Do Believe", the Dove Family Film Seal Award, the Pickleberry Award for Best Family Film and Best Score in an animated film for "I Can Fly", the Great Lakes Film Festival Award for Best Animated Film, the Parents Choice Award and the Oregon Family Film Festival Crystal Award. She is the recipient of the the 2011 TSAI honorary "Hallman Award", the voice of the Disney Animated Film character "Toodles" in "Toodles The Poodle" and "Cowgirl Daisy" in the animated film "Jimmy Paul The Pug Tooth Fairy 6".
United World Records will soon release Jessica's album; in the meantime you can purchase Jessica's three song EP on iTunes and you can see her performances on the Bobby Jones Gospel BET TV Show, Nashville Spotlight TV and Music City Gospel Review TV Show and watch her new video on her website www.JessicaFordmusic.com. She is a very proud member of the five person Gospel group Jah-Way and sings Praise and Worship at "The Church" in Murfreesboro, TN.
