Jenn Vix

Providence, R.I.-native Jenn Vix spent much of her teenage years in New York City before settling back in her home state to pursue a career in music. The singer finally connected with a guitarist and released her self-titled debut album on her own label, Umbrella. Without the funds to aggressively promote her new release, Vix caught a huge break when her album was reviewed in Rolling Stone magazine. By December of 1997, Vix was recording her second album, Hope Springs Nocturnal; released in 1999.
Jenn's third album, "3", released on November 28, 2003, has received rave reviews, including a 5 star review in Gothic Beauty magazine.
Vix's forth album, "Electric Midnight," will be available as a download, soon. A new (fifth) album is also coming soon.

Jenn Vix presents an interesting situation being both breakthrough artist and an artist who has already broken through in the past. Her self produced debut album scored a very strong review in Rolling Stone some time ago. Her voice has that appealing "ethereal goth" quality to it, but without the contrived aspects evident in bands such as Evanescence. The production on this album is brilliant, a true testament to Jenns skills as a producer as well as a songwriter. The album seeps with emotion and synthetic brilliance. Evidenced in the liner notes, she performs virtually all of the instruments by herself. No small feat as other solo artists can tell you. Thick, strong and moody, Jenn Vix is sure to be blazing trails unseen since Delerium broke on the scene. Audio clips are available at her website for your listening pleasure. At the time of this review, Jenn Vix is currently scheduling live shows in support of this new release, which is sure to be a huge hit.

We're either living through great creative times right now or my attitude does a fine job in scaring away those too weak to be tested, because all I'm receiving recently is high quality works, which suits me. Jenn Vix, a woman who admits Numan, Siouxsie and The Cure have been inspirations, sounds more like Curve without the frenzy, and a few odd extras. ---
---A one woman show, because she takes her time, this album doesn't fit obviously into the Ethereal camp, because of the bulging nature of the bass, or the Electronic arena, having too many traditional components. She is like a virgin swimmer, walking the shores of pageantry, dipping her toes fleetingly into little pools of activity. Despite an impressively eerie, bumptious start, 'Doll Heart' lays out her approach. There is modern noise, and a silky motion, and the noir mood is violet rather than dark. Twilight, not midnight, and her vocals glide elegantly.

The music scene in Rhode Island should be sparse and staunch when considering a great solo act, such as Jenn Vix, can remain just that, a solo artist.
The sound quality is some of the best forty minutes I've heard -- The favorite tune on 3 is Sunrise of the Mind. Its such an eclectic blend of acoustic guitar tracks, synth overlays that singe the sounds body, and layered vocals that sap up your brain and make you press repeat.
