Hi All you Myspace-rs!!!!
This is my bio that I am supposed to of written so you can get to know me and my music better.
"As soon as Jenni Alpert starts playing it becomes immediately clear that she is flowing of in talent. The emotions that this girl is laying in her songs will give you ghoosebumps!" ROARMAGAZINE, THE NETHERLAND
With her honest rich songwriting and soothing musical melodies, pop songstress Jenni Alpert's haunting, powerful, and sultry voice is grabbing listeners in every corner. Largely influenced by Carol King, Aimee Mann, and Rickie Lee Jones, Jenni Alpert is a unique web of eclectic soul pop.
Her emotionally driven songs, converging modern day pop influences, have been featured on well known US TV shows like ABC's Castle (All We Need is Love), CBS's CSI Miami (Breakin Down), MTV's The Real World (With One Breath), Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant (All We Need is Love, Damage Done, Simple Mood) to name a few. Currently she is working in the studio with Mikal Blue on a new album scheduled to be released later this year.
This Los Angeles native singer songwriter has been traveling the world with her music supporting great artists like Loudon Wainwright III, Jon Allen, Kaki King, and has shared stages with Regina Spektor, Giovanca, and Sara Bareilles. Since graduating UCLA's Ethnomusicology program as one of the first vocalist to complete legendary Jazz guitarist Kenny Burrell's four year music program, Alpert has performed in over 14 countries including UK (England, Ireland, Scotland), France, The Netherlands, Italy, Israel, India and Australia and has released 5 Albums to date.
Recently Jenni just completed a West Coast Tour in the United States called Blood Driven performing at Blood Drives, Blood Centers, and children's hospitals by day and local venues by night touching over 5000 miles to encourage more people to donate blood to save a life and is now a spokesperson / artist for America's Blood Centers.
In the Netherlands, her sophomore full length album 'No second guesses' received strong radio play and Alpert was invited to do a series of live radio shows hitting most of the Netherlands pop radio airwaves: 'Shouting Boots' Radio 6, Radio 5 at Oba live, Tros Radio Muziekcafe Radio 2, Radio One at Link Atlas, V-radio/Veronica 'studio Schram' and support the UK artist Jon Allen on his Dutch tour and made her want to come back for more. There are plans for a European tour in 2012.
Although in the past some magazines have illuminated Alpert's jazz sensibilities, her most recent release 'Underneath the Surface' (produced by Brad Smith (Blind Melon) captures her more eclectic-pop side and will hopefully be the key to many more European popstages and radiostations. Written up in Clear Channel's New and Discover and Uncover, AOL music, and indie music blogs reviewers state "Alpert brings great tenderness, and a willingness to wear her heart on her sleeve, which she does very endearingly." Songs from Jenni Alpert's newest album Underneath the Surface produced by Brad Smith (Blind Melon) including "Heaven" and "Sweet Talk" can be heard on Pandora, Sirus XM Radio, PBS stations or on any of your favorite online stores.
Underneath the surface features Jimmy Paxson (drummer, Stevie Nicks), Chris Chaney (Bass, Jane's Addiction, Alanis Morissette), Lenny Castro (percussion, Al Jarreau, John Mayer, Boz Scaggs), Zac Rae (synths and keys, Fiona Apple, Alanis Morissette, Anouk).
Currently Jenni is in the studio with producer Mikal Blue (Colbie Caillet, Brendan Willing James, Five for Fighting) working on a new record which will feature Chris Chaney (bass, Jane's Addiction, Alanis Morissette), Victor Indrizzo (drums, Chris Cornell, Rufus Wainwright, Macy Gray, Aimee Mann), Dave Levita (guitar, Alanis Morissette, Anouk) Shakira), Jeff Babko (synths, accordion, James Taylor, ABC's Kimmel Live) Zac Rae (synths, whirly, mellotron, Fiona Apple, Alanis Morrisette) and Stevie Blacke (strings, Brook Fraser, Joe Cocker).
