Belgian Electronica collective Je m'en fish. Started around 2001 with 6 projects, and getting the stamp of official organisation for promoting young talent by the Belgian government January 2003, the collective is now housing some 30-ish artistical projects and is always looking for more interesting projects from Belgium. For artists from other countries, we're always interested in exchange projects: Some of us play over there, and we invite you over here. To this purpose, we started with the new 'TAKING BACK MONDAYS!' events, visit the profile for more information (Dutch).

We aim to work out projects that are interesting for everyone, also the venues. We help with promotion, make flyers and posters, have promo teams, and so on. We also offer a full high quality lightshow based on moving heads, scanners, stroboscope and the new environment-friendly LED PAR 64 technology, a high quality and high power soundsystem (Ecler nuo mixing table with Mackie sub and DAP top speakers), and a high quality DV videocamera. The collective is officialy recognied and supported by both the Flemish government and the Brussels Dutch community.

Je m'en fish is also the official organisation for organising the formerly yearly, and now bi-yearly Belgian electronica contest, for the up-and-coming electronical talents, VJ's, and graphical or other arts that go well with this.

The edition of 2006 ran from March 1 until May 31 2006; It remains to be seen if the event will now be every 2 years or not.

For reference, in 2005 our jury consisted of:

Kurt Overbergh, Ancienne Belgique

Niklaas Van Den Abeele, Kultuurkaffee, Clubcircuit;

Libelia De Splenter, Studio Brussel;

Charles Blondeel, FM Brussel;

Dirk Da Davo, The Neon Judgement/Neon Electronics;

Bart Mandonx, Zounds management;

Ward Lodewijck, Poppunt;

Stijn Lauwers, Squadra Bossa;

Zark, Electrobel;

Ben Sadoine, Je m'en fish (Motel 03/Eega X);

Rollznoyce won this contest in 2005, and played in The Netherlands, UK, Italy, Slovenia, Germany.

In 2006 the winner on 09 November at Kultuurkaffee Brussels was Hosm0z.

In 2007, Je m'en fish will be seen co-producing, among other things, the Belgian international festival of fantastic film and the Alienor cyberculture festival in France, as always mixing visual arts with music, graphical arts, and others. We will also help the Mekitburn festival in Vilvoorde.

2008 turns out to be a groundbreaking year from the get-go. Not only are we in the jury of numerous contests including the Studio Brussel Switch Demo-contest with Silenced, we also receive news we're officially recognised and financially supported by the flemish community of Brussels, which will enable us to support more initiatives. We decide to work more closely with the Mekitburn festival this year, and also start up the taking back mondays events in October.

Note: DON'T bother trying to add your party flyers and mass consumption pre-made pictures to the comments box. They won't be accepted. We aren't a spam dumping ground.
