From San Diego, California, Jeff began studying classical piano at the age of six and picked up guitar at twelve. In 2004 he moved to Boston to attend the Berklee College of Music on scholarship and root for the red sox. As a member of the 2007 Berklee Monterey Quartet he performed twice at the 50th annual Monterey Jazz Festival. In addition to numerous performances on behalf of the college, this quartet was also the featured opening act for the San Francisco Jazz Collective at its March 2008 performance in Boston. He graduated from Berklee with honors in May 2008. Jeff recently took first place at the 2008 Gibson Montreux Jazz Guitar Competition in Switzerland, an international event open to all guitarists under the age of 30. As the winner he will lead his own band as a featured act at the festival in 2009 and record an album with the vocal and piano winners. In addition to extensive performances around the United States, his playing has taken him on tours around Europe and Central America. He has studied with Hal Crook, Dave Santoro, Mick Goodrick, Rick Peckham, Tim Miller, Bret Willmott, Terri Lynn Carrington, Jeff Galindo, Dave Samuels, and Alain Mallet. He currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.
