Jeff Burke has been playing bassoon around the Toronto area for over 28,
hopping from the anglo-irish trad, to indie pop/rock/folk, jazz, world beat, hip hop, contemporary classical with no sign of boundaries or borders, any style he can get his hands on is fair game. He's a diverse bassoon player involved in a number of groups and dance projects (modern & folk) in and around Toronto. Yes he'll play Metallica, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, System of A Down as well as Praetorius and O' Carolan. On a Bassoon it's all about flexibility! He's also known for his improvising and adeptness with improvisational forms. And then there's dance and music played for dancing - english country, morris dance, renaissance dance, folk dance, modern dance and occasionally even belly dance.
Besides his ongoing activities with his various projects he might be seen guesting and jamming around the city's performance scene. Including doing an opening performance for a Noam Chomsky Lecture.
Recently he was invited to guest in on bassoon with the Sun Ra Arkestra while they did their 4 day run in Toronto in June 2006. 2007 saw him presenting Metallica's Master of Puppets album; bassoon with delay pedal at the Brampton Indie arts Festival.

Over the years he's also been involved in local Renaissance Faires and the SCA (S.C.A. = the Society for Creative Anachronisms) playing period music and most recently had to admit to a growing addiction to Karaoke singing.
