JOHN DAVIS

"FLASHCAN"

South Carolina born John Davis, whose early work was previously only known to the most eBay-addicted of electro collectors, is perhaps the last remaining "rediscovered" electro-funk pioneer. Through the 80s and 90s he worked with artists such as Babyface and Terry Lewis of The Time, and he was one of the real singers in the group Milli Vanilli. His legendary '84 electro party jams have been said to have inspired artists ranging from Mad Mike, Juan Atkins and I-F, and his best cuts have for the first time been collected on this second release on new electro/funk label Citinite. Rated 'Electro Sureplayer' of the month in DJ Magazine, one of the 'Albums of the Year 2006' at Bleep.com, and described by Vice magazine as "serene. outrageous. and seriously impressive", John Davis's devastating robo-funk is guaranteed to turn your body out.8-track double album released on vinyl and MP3.

"Funk that makes Prince sound like a bow-legged honky."

"If you were convinced Juan Atkins's electro productions were mainly influenced by Kraftwerk, think again."
