Our group plays latin christian music in churches, private functions, concerts, outdoor festivals, etc. The music is a conjunto tejano syle that is popular with our hispanic culture. The lyrics speak of the love we have for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and what He can do in YOUR life. That's what were talking about! We pray that our music will bless hearts, renew lives, and win souls for the Lord. May God BLess each and everyone of you.



Congratulations to Jayson y Los Varones on being awarded Gospel Conjunto of the Year 2005 by the South Texas Conjunto Association. The awards were held on Sunday July 17, 2005 at the Harlingen Casa De Amistad Auditorium. Praise the Lord for the unlimited possibilities He chooses to glorify His name.

Biography



What is it that you like about conjunto music? Yes, it’s that and much more as well as a substantial part of our Latin culture. Imagine a group of musicians putting together fresh arrangements with lyrics of faith, hope, and love, smooth singing styles, and an “old school” yet modern sounding accordion techniques. Jayson Y Los Varones deliver just that.



Jayson Y Los Varones started in early 2001 as a church praise and worship band playing coritos alegres y alabanzas que llegan al corazon. The initial members were Jayson Villarreal – accordion & vocals, Jay Villarreal bass & vocals, Victor Hugo De La Cruz – guitar & vocals, Jesse Reyna – drums, and John Reyna – percussion.



As the band progressed, they started playing original songs such as “Mensaje De Amor” which led to their first recording entitled “Varon De Dios” (2003). Victor felt he was been called by the Lord to go on his own and preach the gospel. After much prayer, he was able to obey the calling. This left a vacancy for a new guitarist & vocalist – enter Elias Lopez. Soon after the group recorded “No Le Puedo Negar” (2004).



Jesse Reyna and his son John felt the Lord was also calling them to do other things. The Varones started working in the studio and released “Coritos Y Alabanzas” (2005). Wanting to play for the Lord again, a drummer named Steve Delgado was willing to fill the vacancy in the group.



After being introduced by a mutual friend, Carlos Landin Jr., Jay & Jayson met master musician Joel Guzman and a strong friendship soon developed. This mixture of talent brought together a collaboration of ideas and “Buscame” (2007) was released. Everyone worked very hard to make this CD a success and we hope and pray it is received well.

Jayson Villarreal

Jayson Villarreal has been playing the accordion since he was 13 and is now playing the chromatic accordion as well. He is attending the University of Texas Pan American. Jayson is also the engineer for his label Jayson Records. Jayson’s passion for music, his charm, and radiant smile transcend in his performances.



Jay Villarreal

Jay Villarreal started playing drums at an early age, formed his own band, and played at local venues. Now he plays the bass with the Varones laying precise timing and has fine-tuned his vocal talent.



Elias Lopez

Elias Lopez had been playing with the Christian band Asaph since 1990.

The quality of his guitar playing and the ability of his singing make Elias

a great musician.



Steve Delgado

Steve Delgado started playing the drums at the age of 14 in a local church. Steve’s drumming has developed into a unique tejano style that has helped

the group reach a new level.



Together they make an impressive combination delivering great music with lyrics of faith that touch the core of our

soul. Jayson Y Los Varones is indeed a tejano gospel conjunto proving that God uses gospel music to penetrate,

illuminate, and reassure our way of life. Dios es bueno!
