Jayne Lakissova (official)
My name is Jevgenia Lakissova but people call me Jayne because it's shorter and easier. For the past two years I've been bouncing between Budapest, Milan, Munich, Athens, Tallinn, and Madrid but hail originally from a small town in Estonia and spent the 3 amazing "youth" years in Riga for my Bachelor's degree. I've been writing and performing music since I was so high (about 3 feet). I started Music School at the age of 5 so this year marks 18th anniversary in music. I had some bands at my teens; at Shabash I was singing on national TV at age 15, we had great gigs etc but found that my cup of Russian tea is not made of metal and went solo.
Some people have said that my voice and music is in ambiance and delivery a mixture of Edith Piaf meets Kate Bush (the early years) via Björk. But I would say that its all wrapped up with a style and that is uniquely my own. Other comments have been that my music will "feel as equally at home wandering through the charts as it would in the soundtrack of a Tim Burton or Jean-Pierre Jeunet film. All coloured balloons that move against the wind. A Victorian Dolls museum at midnight. Music that reflects a woman with the child in her eyes. Very personal but somehow we feel we have all been here, it invites us back yet also warns us off."
I have all the recordings for the debut album called "La Poupée" ready. It's mostly in English but couple songs in French as well and one in Estonian. It is about dolls, quite impressionistic: I see an image, I want to depict it, to deliver an esthetical and, sometimes, mental pleasure to my potential listener. And, in addition, the topic of dolls gives an opportunity to reflect some small details of a human behaviour, indirectly, gently. I love people, I am interested in them, I just like observing and depicting. Via dolls. One more reason, as I have already mentioned, is the esthetical side. Dolls are beautiful, aren't they?
Anyway, I have no idea yet when the album will be released. We were actively preparing the release for autumn 2008 with one management company, however, their plans have changed and a lot of work and hopes are now flushed in the toilet. Let us wish them the best of luck and see what happens next.

Due to this uncertainty, knowing that some are truly waiting for my release, I decided to give out music out for free! Now you can download my songs for free from myspace!

I have played only couple shows so far but my performances are like a little plays – music not being the sole component.
Hope you enjoy! I would like to know your opinion, so feel free to leave a comment below or send me a message! Spread the word and add the banner below.

.and I was smart enough to finally upload some stuff on last.fm! Again - free downloads, check out the playlist! The order is very important for the conceptual idea (pathetic, but true!), so enjoy it the way it's presented :)
