Jaylene was a toddler and plunking out "Frère Jacques" by ear on a little toy piano when her parents decided to enroll her in music lessons. This and her ability to have full conversations by the age of two made Jaylene's destiny seem quite clear: She would be a communicator, and she would communicate through songs. She has come a long way from a toy piano, now adding keyboard, guitar and stellar songwriting to what have been described as "angelic pipes". With five recordings to her credit, a slew of awards and nominations (including a 2011 WCMA nomination) and years of experience as an independent artist, Jaylene brings compassion and insight that "cause you to listen more closely" (CD Baby)
If you watch network television, you've likely heard her music. Her soul-nourishing, melodic pop lends itself perfectly to pictures, whether ones she paints for her audiences through engaging and dynamic live performances, or ones imagined by creators of such shows as Pretty Little Liars, Degrassi: The Next Generation and Being Erica. Three-time finalist in the International Songwriting Competition, and Juno Nominee for a recent collaboration with Eagle and Hawk (The Great Unknown), Jaylene's work demonstrates a beautiful and thoughtful ability to connect across generations and cultural barriers with her intelligent, inspiring and heartfelt songs.
Her success at acquiring licenses for television caught the attention of Casablanca Media Publishing in 2006 with whom she worked under contract until the end of 2008. She has penned songs with dozens of producers and artists in Los Angeles, Nashville, Toronto, Vancouver and Winnipeg. Amy Sky, Hannah Georgas, Sierra Noble and others have recorded her material, and she is increasing demand as a collaborator, writing with acclaimed producers Chris Burke-Gaffney, Rob Wells and many others. Live, Jaylene is at her best ever, having just completed a fourteen-date tour of Western Canada. The pain of two divorces, recovery from a near-fatal car-wreck and a heart tuned to the varied landscape of the human experience are all heard in the shades of her voice, as is the joy of new love, and appreciation for life.
