Jason Gianni is currently a full-time instructor at The Drummers Collective in NYC. At The Collective, he teaches all styles (ranging from Afro-Cuban to Jazz to Funk studies) with a concentration on Odd-Time studies, advanced 4-way independent Polyrhythm studies, Ostinato soloing and Progressive Rock/Metal concepts. Jason teaches privately as well as instructs his own 10-week Progressive Rock EIP (elective) course and a 10-week Polyrhythm course at the school. Lessons are available directly through the front office of The Drummers Collective. He is the co-author of the acclaimed drum book, The Drummers Bible which has sold thousands of copies throughout the world. As a session drummer, you may recognize his drumming work specifically on the theme song for the famous cartoon, 'SpongeBob Squarepants,' as well as drum tracks throughout the 1st season of 'Hannah Montana,' and commercials for clients such as McDonalds, Izusu, Discover, Pine Sol, 'A Bug's Life,' Ebay, Sprint and many, many more. Jason spent 6 years as a full-time, touring member of the popular Bay Area rock band, 'MiGGs.' "Insomnia," the 2nd CD released by MiGGs, was signed to 33rd Street Records (produced by Gavin McKillop) and the single entitled, "Perfect," reached into the Billboard top 50 in 2005. In addition, Jason was the featured drummer on "Impossible Figures," a recent CD by progressive artists Magellan on InsideOut Records. Last summer, Jason was asked to be an instructor at the first-annual Drum Fantasy Camp (in South Orange, NJ) giving clinics and master classes along with drummers such as Dave Weckl, Steve Smith, Jason Bittner, and Horatio Hernandez. Recently, Jason has recorded a DVD for Hudson Music for the Sound Percussion drum set line. The DVD, entitled "Set Up, Tune and Play Your Drums," was released in the summer of 2008. It covers the basic assembly, construction and beginning steps to getting started on drum set. Just additionally released via the web is a Vic Firth clinic/lesson video series with Jason on the subject of Polyrhythms filmed in 5 separate segments. The series can be found on the Vicfirth.com website. Also, the debut concept CD entitled "The Sky is Falling" from 'Days Before Tomorrow,' a melodic progressive rock band from Northern NJ, was released in the summer of 2009. The CD was produced by Ron Nevison (Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Bad Company) and mixed by Grammy award winning engineer, Earl Cohen. In October 2009, it was announced that "The Sky is Falling" won RECORD OF THE YEAR at the LA Music Awards. Lastly, he is currently playing with members of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in several different situations, including a new original project entitled, Daredevil Squadron. The debut CD from Daredevil Squadron was released in November 2009 entitled, "Out Of The Sun." Jason endorses Paiste cymbals, Vic Firth Drum Sticks and Remo drum heads.
