Scotland's number one hard-dance DJ?

Having rocked events such as the last Tidy Weekender, Godskitchen's Air for new promotion Nouveau, Extreme Euphoria in London, as well as being one of a few Scottish based DJ's to play this years Coloursfest, you'd be hard pushed to find a busier and more in demand DJ from North of the border.

A DJ with over 10 years experience, Jason Cortez has played alongside the cream of the crop when it comes to trance & hard-dance DJ's. The fact that he has played alongside Tiesto, Mauro Picotto, Judge Jules, Fergie, Eddie Halliwell, Lisa Lashes, Scot Project, Marco V, Anne Savage, Yoji Biomehanika & many more in the past speaks volumes.

Having played for promotions such as Tidy, Goodgreef, Storm, Frantic, Wildchild, Extreme Euphoria, Inside Out, Coloursfest & Sundissential, his skills behind the decks have been fine tuned at the best clubs in the land.

An entertaining, enthusiastic DJ who plays for the crowd, always smiling and interacting with the masses in front of him, as if one with them.

The Summer season also see's Jason making some waves internationally, with dates in Ibiza, South Africa & Ireland on the horizon alongside bookings the length & breadth of Britain.

Not just a talented DJ, the name Jason Cortez has been making its mark in the World of production. His records can be found in sets being played across the World by DJ's such as Lisa Lashes, Anne Savage, Nick Sentience, The Tidy Boys, Phil Reynolds & James Lawson to name but a few.

His 'God' track, on his own Nuklearpuppy label, was one of the smash hard-dance tracks of 2005, with inclusion on the last Extreme Euphoria compilation.

Quotes:

Amadeus Mozart of The Tidy Boys, June 2006:

Jason has to be one of the brightest stars on our scene right now, his productions never fail to deliver and regularly find their way into our sets, in fact I forget the last time we played without a Jason Cortez track being slotted in somewhere. After we had the pleasure of DJing with him at Tidy Weekender 9 we realised he was more than just a great producer with a pretty face hes a fucking excellent DJ as well its talented people like this that makes us feel sick bastard!

Phil Reynolds on harderfaster.net March 2005:

Finally, who do you tip for the top in 2005?

Its always difficult to predict. I think Jason Cortez will do really well as a producer this year. Ive got a CD of his new tunes are they are all amazing.

Wildchild Birthday review from www.harderfaster.net: November 2005:

One of the boys in the know was keen to hear Phil York back to back with Jason Cortez, two Djs not as well known in the south and completely unheard of to me (not a surprise as I do marching orders and messes, not names and faces very well). At this point early in the night my feathers were feeling a little ruffled from the trip down and I was a little agitated that I had been separated from the tired team of trouble makers I had set out with. My partner in crime decided that it was a little to early for a hectic stomp so set out for a sofa in the chill out section. The boy in the know and I settled with a spot on the dance floor to get comfortable. I must say I was almost immediately impressed by Mr York and Mr Cortez. Their stage presence was lively and exciting, which for me is 50% of what makes a decent DJ. Everyones favourite I cant get no sleep was mutating in that morish way to a mix of Agnelli and Nelsons (note to self must catch their set) Everyday which soon had me bouncing about with both Djs and crowd alike. It wasnt long before the half empty room started to fill out as people wandering through found themselves caught up by the lure of the dynamic Scottish duo on the decks.

Jason Cortez 'God', Nuklearpuppy Records

This has been an anthem in waiting for some time, and hard-dance fans will be delight to learn of the imminent arrival of 'God' on vinyl. Penned by Jason Cortez, and with Nick Rowland behind the controls in the studio, this little beauty has been destroying dance floors for a select few DJ's for months now. Its boasts a super-slick fusion of blissful pads, spine-tingling vocals, one the biggest hard dance riffs you'll hear all year, all wrapped up in a superb arrangement that will have those on the dance floor both on their toes and with their hands in the air from start to finish. Not content with that, they also recruit James Lawson for remix duties, and he rather sensibly doesn't try to outgun the original, instead opting for a cooler trance arrangement that's equally as tempting as the original. Heavenly hard dance!

Chicane ‘Saltwater(Jason Cortez remake)’

Jason Cortez strikes pure gold this month with the launching of a brand new label designed to showcase the harder side of

tech-trance. First up is this absolutely brilliant reworking of Chicane’s dance classic ‘Saltwater’. Yes, it’s another remix of a

trance anthem and yes, they are becoming a tad unnecessary, but give this one a spin and the crowds will be munching

from your palms. If you’re only going to buy one remix this autumn, make it this one. 5/5

Chicane ‘Saltwater(Jason Cortez remake)’

Jason Cortez showcases his tech trance sounds, delivering a timely remake of the Chicane classic ‘Saltwater’ for his first

release. Kicking of with some snare filled, tight techno percussion, the nagging synth lines build up the suspense before

dropping into the ethereal Gaelic vocals and lush pads from the Chicane original. This should bring tears to the eyes of

dance fans!

Jason Cortez 'Damn That DJ' & 'Tranzition', Nuklearpuppy Records

This is Jason's first solo EP, and the boy wonder from Scotland delivers in absolutely fine style. Two tracks are on

offer, "Damn That DJ fuses that classic vocal sample into a delightful hard-trance affair with two huge riffs to power it

along. Whilst 'Tranzition' on the flip combines groove with euphoria to produce a hybrid which is dirty, uplifting and

delightfully sexy. More please!

Jason Cortez 'Damn That DJ' & 'Tranzition', Nuklearpuppy Records

Fresh from the success of his recent tech-trance cover versions, Jason Cortez gets back to his hard-trance roots with two

storming tracks here. The lead track has a distinctive preacher type vocal "Damn! That DJ made my day" laid over a

soaring power riff and euphoric key changes. The flip features a stand out vocal, "Make your transition", wedged in

between an equally energetic and floor friendly hard-trance arrangement.
