“I wanted to do something different. I felt like smooth jazz was becoming, for a lack of a better word, boring,” says Jason Carroll a.k.a. Jerome. “With this release, I wanted to incorporate dancing. You’ll notice from listening to most of the songs on this album that they have a danceable feel which is usually rare in smooth jazz.”

Many will come to the realization that Jerome’s theory is right; it’s hard to find smooth jazz that doesn’t put you to sleep. However, Dance All Night is one of the first albums to incorporate R&B, pop, hip hop, and jazz in such a vivid way. “I didn’t hold anything back. If I wanted a song to have a hip hop feel, I made it purely hip hop. This also went for songs that I wanted to have an R&B and pop feel as well,” states Jerome. “With this in mind, I incorporated songs that still have a near pure smooth jazz sound such as ‘In The Clouds,’ ‘Paradise Road,’ and ‘Smooth As Silk‘ just to name a few. Nonetheless, most of these songs aren’t your average smooth jazz.”

The title track and single ‘Dance All Night’ from this album is a pure example of his hypothesis. This song along with ‘After Hours’ and ‘Lookin’ Good’ are probably some of the most controversial songs in this genre. “Nobody’s really done songs like these,” says Jerome. “Many have attempted but the songs usually weren’t enjoyable. They were in the ‘grey’ area; not purely smooth jazz but not anything else either. Most of the influence for this album came from songs you would normally hear on mainstream radio which is what makes this release so much different than the others.”

Jerome is known mostly for his ability to produce as well as effectively take on the role of an artist. Upon hearing Dance All Night, listeners will find that his ability as an artist has matured immensely. “I’ve been working on my lead piano playing a lot. I felt that it was time for me to take it to the next level so I started practicing as if my life depended on it.” Now, his style has developed into something unique that fits well with various styles of music; everything ranging from upbeat to smooth ballads.

“I think people will enjoy this album,” Jerome states. “It’s fun! You’ve got songs you can dance to, cruise on the highway to, and even make love to. I wanted to give listeners a variety of sounds that would keep them interested; you know, songs for whatever mood they’re in.” Jerome even gives people a chance to hear him stretch his vocal cords with the soulful and uplifting ‘Closer To You.’ “It’s a feel-good song,” he says. “I enjoy singing background vocals from time to time, and I felt a song like this would definitely be a perfect fit for this album.”

Songs on Jerome’s Dance All Night include “Dance All Night,” “After Hours,” “Silk Sheets,” “Closer To You,” “Breeze of Autumn,” “Dreaming,” “In The Clouds,” “Come Back To Me,” “Paradise Road,” “City Streets,” “License To Chill,” “Lookin’ Good,” “Smooth As Silk,” “When The Sun Smiles,” “To The Hip,” and “Summer’s Song.”

Dance All Night is Executive Produced by Jerome.
