Jap Sluts were created in 2004 by Jean-Claude King (Dub Pistols) and producer Ed Shrager. The two met while working on sessions for Roots Manuva’s 2005 album 'Awfully Deep'. With a love of Ska, Punk and Drum and Bass and enough lyrical content from the 'War on Terror', the boys found themselves writing their debut album 'Make Punk Not War'. The album took less than six months to complete and was getting such a good response from everyone that heard it, the obvious thing to do was take it live. In came Tim Hutton (Ian Brown, Groove Armada) and Alan Haggarty (Ozrik Tentacles) and rehearsals began.

As a four piece the band practised for about six months but then due to tour commitments they were forced to split. After a few months Jean-Claude decided there was no way he was going to let this one fall apart so he recruited some old musician friends. Rehearsals began and Jap Sluts were reborn. This time more serious than ever they became a six piece, Jean-Claude on lead vocals and guitar, Xavier Herring on vocals and guitar, Sacha Herring on bass, Ed White on drums, Salman Monteiro on effects and percussion and Maya Chewaluza on backing vocals.

Gigs began in March 2006 with a sell out show at 93ft East in London. In June 2006 Jean-Claude King and Salman Monteiro created the Jap Sluts Sound System. A DJ set with rocking dub and funk influences. Their first show was two sell out nights in Cornwall for 'Beachbombing UK' with 'Back to Basics' Promoter Dave Beer and 'Kids in Tracksuits'.

As a live band or as a DJ set Jap Sluts are fully charged and ready for booking. During the last six months they have been recording and mixing their live set at Airplay Studios in Surrey and are now being produced by Jason O’Bryan (Dub Pistols) and are hoping to get some new tracks on the site asap.
