“No, you never will escape yourself/You may as well pay attention/You’ll be alright,

take the time to look inside/You’ll find what you’re made of.” And so goes the title track’s chorus of Janine Stange’s (STANG: like Mustang) latest CD release that she co-wrote with producer Tim

Miner. Pay Attention. (Yes, do that.) In a day where many are trying to become

who they aren’t rather than be who they are, Janine decidedly douses thirsty ears

with waves of truth.

Moments of Silence….

“People would stop me all the time and ask when my next project was coming out….I

honestly didn’t know…I had no idea how, where, when or even what. No one handed

anything to me; God basically put these dreams in my heart and said ‘Go for it’.

I’m cut from the same cloth as everyone else.”

Just days after the New Year, Janine remembers sitting in her kitchen telling

her mom that she stopped trying figuring it all out. “I wasn’t giving up, I was

letting go, I knew I was supposed to do more but it seemed all doors were shut,

and I was determined to not bang on any more ….” Literally minutes later her

cell phone rang – a door opened.

Pour it out…

Producer Tim Miner (known for his work with Steve Perry, Al Green, Brian McKnight)

was on the other end – she caught his attention. “He asked me when I could get

to California…”. Three weeks later she was on her way. “When I was on the plane

I felt like I was completely emptying out the ‘me’ from myself creating a void

that I knew only God could fill back up.” She says she stepped off the plane

with nothing. “No agenda, no ideas, no back-up plan. That’s a miracle in itself.

I’m a New Yorker – we’re bred to think ahead of everything.”

“I took a journal with me to church every Sunday morning and Tuesday night, and

just wrote everything that I felt hit me. I would go back to my apartment, and

the songs would flow. I’d write one day and record the next. I was out of my time

zone, my comfort zone, and whatever other zone you can think of. I would finish

a song and then be empty again.”

On purpose accident….

Much like the culturally diverse city she is from, Pay Attention is a smattering

of diverse genres unified by her raw and passionate vocals and ‘think-twice’ lyrical writing. “We didn’t really plan

on having such an eclectic project; we just went with what we were feeling.”

As a result, there is something for everyone and every mood. (Note to all of the

Tim Miner fans out there - you'll hear his background vocals on a few tracks as

well.)

A better way.

Janine describes the CD as ".a look at life that’s not filtered through religion

…we’re all tired of the religious stuff. “ She’s even got a new program birthed

out of the whole writing experience called: Women Who Wait: we were made to be

The future’s bright…

Janine is moving forward. Equipped with a clear and simple message – keep checking
