Janelle Dudley, aka Jamiss has an extensive background in the arts and is an avid poetry writer. She has taken several dance classes and studied acting at Columbia College Chicago, where she eventually graduated with a B/A in Theatre. As a dancer she performed with K Phi 9 Dance Troupe. That experience along with her association with G.O.O.D Music artist GLC, landed her a role as a dancer in Kanye West’s’ video for “Workout Plan”. Jamiss started her music career in 2000 as one half of the female duo, Naja, which got their debut along with GLC on Kanye’s “Jeanius Level Mixtape” for Akademiks Jeans as well as DJ Mike Love of WGCI’s “NY vs. Chicago” mixtape. It was shortly there after that Jamiss perused a solo career working exclusively with Chicago producers: Tony Baines, The Twilite Tone and Xtreme who aided her in mastering her skills and talents as a rapper and entertainer. She has traveled for years performing at many urban hotspots and deepening her roots in hip hop culture throughout Chicago, New York and Los Angeles.

Jamiss draws her inspiration from all types of music but Tupac, Kanye West and Jay-Z are among her favorites. Through her songs, she expresses her inner most feelings about relationships, street life and social injustices from a female’s perspective. Drawing attention after appearances on Chicago’s two premier radio stations, WGCI & Power 92, Jamiss completed her first solo mixtapes, “Get Mine” and “Juicy Point Of View” hosted by famed Chicago radio DJs, The Deal Makers, V-Dub (WGCI) & DJ Pharris (Power 92). She would then also receive appearances on Chicago radio DJ Averi Minor’s “The Wire” & “Ave City Show” mixtapes.

What sets Jamiss apart from other female MC’s is her creativity and determination to succeed. Her aspiration is to portray a sexy, yet non-trashy image that is a sophisticated and respectable.

This year, Jamiss will be working in the studio finishing her album as well as her mixtape series; “Even the Odds”, in which she plans to substantiate her talents through lyrics, songwriting, performing and engineering. Her expansion continues to grow through Internet buzz including blogs www.jamiss.blogspot.com, www.fakeshoredrive.com , radio and pure tenacity. With the lack of presence from female artist and her wide range of artistic abilities, Jamiss’ contribution to the rap game is definitely something to look forward to.
