Locally dubbed as potentially being one of the greats, Jaheil Naranjo aka Jah Water is the replenishment hip-hop needs after such a long drought. Bringing to the industry an eccentric personality, charming looks, and his real name with no need to hide the originality he was born with, Jaheil is a gift to the world of music. Both his swagger and lyrical content are foreign to where he dwells, Miami, a city musically known for bass-driven booty shakers and "dirty south" music. Always an attention-magnet, Jaheil's presence is always felt wherever he may be. Originally from the Bronx, a young Jaheil was initially drawn by the king of pop Michael Jackson. As a bright little toddler, he was always laced with high top fades and fresh sneakers by his father who was a b-boy from the South Bronx when Hip-hop didn't even have a name yet. Like in many cases, Jaheil's dad didn't stick around for too long. Jah's demeanor and remarkable outlook on life show his vast maturity; "You live day by day trying to find your niche/ not knowing when it'll change but Time will snitch/ The Past gets away with everything, the Present is pissed/ The Future is always late and you call "Life" a bitch/. A conversation with this 22 year-old and you would ask for birth certificates. His 6-foot-2 200-pound athletic frame doesn't make it any more convincing. Jaheil may also fool some into thinking he was from the Midwest with lyrics that draw reminiscences of Common, Kanye West, and Lupe Fiasco. But these "sound like" comparisons are just a rough assessment for those that haven't had the pleasure of listening to "Jah Water", who already has his own polished sound. Inspired by his idol Bruce Lee, Jaheil's flow is "like water my friend". Pure and clear, he adapts to any track taking the form of any beat and becoming the music. With his head and heart devoted to touching everyone through music, Jaheil is an artist the world is going to feel. His art lets you inside the mind of a young truth-seeker exposing many of life's ills and everyday situations in such a creative way that is not only thought-provoking but fun and entertaining. Incredibly marketable with a good head on his shoulders, "Jah Water" is a positive contribution to tomorrow's generation and refreshment for the older folks. Whether it is dead or still alive, Hip-hop does have a future and its name is Jaheil.
