You want music with smooth lyrics, ranging from superior intellect to flat out humor? You want majestically orchestrated pieces and trunk shaking dance tunes? You want original music presented in a perfect blend of northern and southern hip hop styles? You want J.t.S J.t.S. is what you would call a rapper (+). A rapper plus, what's that? I'll elaborate. Upon listening to his music, it is clear that he is a rapper, but he is so much more than that. His music ranges from body-jerking dance tracks to tear-jerking emotional tracks and absolutely everything in-between, above, under, and around. His lyrics are amazing, his ideas are un-paralleled, and after listeing to his music, you get a feeling that you don't get today with a lot of artist - a feeling of being 'complete'. How often do you listen to an album and it touches everything, giving your brain something new to indulge in? When was the last time it happened. For me, it was just a few moments ago. The cd seems to take your hand and almost audibly say, "come with me, I want to show you something." I followed and was glad i did. When he was growing up, he did it all. He listend to all kinds of music, watched all kinds of TV shows, and most importantly, like all kinds of people, leading to a long list of accomplishments and activities. His list includes basketball, boxing, dancing, poetry, and has a nice outlying point of serving in the United States Marine Corps. Musically gifted, he started playing trumpet in middle school and quickly branched out to other brass, percussion, keys, bass & guitar, choir, and music composition. To add to the variety, he has played in nationally decorated jazz bands and combos, hip hop groups, salsa and alternative bands, and even put in some time for the big guy upstairs on his churches praise team. Add that to years of deep poetry and an impressive vocabulary and the sky is the limit. However, according to peers, who listen and watch him progress song after song, a physic to die for, a personallity to kill for, they may not be a limit at all. When asked if he had what it takes to achieve his goals in music, J.t.S. stated: "I've had a lot of goals during my life and I try to do what ever I can to reach them. I've played college ball, been an amatuer boxer, played in bands, even learned how to throw down in the kitchen. It's always a struggle but if you want to make it happen, you can make it happen. I wanted to sprain ankles and dive for lose balls to player harder; I wanted to spend hours in a gym dodging punches, stoppin' only to wipe the sweat off my brow and blood from my knows to box better; I wanted to practice my horns until my lips felt like jello to play them better. Hell, this is easy! All I gotta do know is fight with a pen, some paper and some instruments! That's what's up!" When asked on his opinion about his talent, J.t.S. stated: "I try to be modest, but over the years and the harder you work at something, when the trophies and medals start comin' in and the accomplishment list gets longer, it's gets hard not to get a little big-headed, but I try to keep myself in check and set limits. Others say I've got what it takes to raise the standard in the industry and hold my own quite easily. All I say is 'put me on the spot with a mic and if you're not entertained, touched emotionally, or whatever then someone forgot to burry you and I must have missed the funeral!'
