In just a few short years on the music scene, he’s picked up a Green Room Award for Best Original Songs in cabaret, along with a nomination for Best Production, Best Cabaret at the 2008 Melbourne Fringe Festival, a Matilda nomination for “Best Musical” (having penned the original score to Lady of the House of Love, starring Sandro Colarelli), performed as the featured emerging artist for the Brisbane Cabaret Festival, along with supports for The Dresden Dolls locally and in London, Kate Miller-Heidke and Paul Capsis.

Downside Up, an original musical theatre piece, which he co-wrote and starred in with local singer-songwriter Emma Dean, performed to a full house at The Judith Wright Centre earlier last year.

For Diefenbach, 2010 was a year to take a step back and reflect; to write and regather, refocus and then come out all guns blazing. Even so - just this year - Diefenbach has still found time to perform at Woodford, take his show on tour to The Butterfly Club in Melbourne, record a new studio album, and collaborate with Zen Zen Zo to star in six sold-out performances of My Sublime Shadow (along with his long-term partner in crime, Emma Dean).
