Isobel 'Izo' FitzRoy is a 25 year old singer/songwriter and pianist. Born and bred in London, having played classical and jazz piano since the age of seven, her musical career took flight in 2003 when she won The Guardian's prestigious 'Young Composer of the Year' award. However, it was only when Izo made her way up to Glasgow that her musical character really began to emerge.

In 2007 she began working at a drug rehabilitation centre in the city, which inspired her to write songs incorporating dark social observations from her day to day experiences. Soon afterwards she began to make her first recordings and perform live all over Scotland, leading to her inclusion - alongside Sharleen Spiteri and Bobby Gillespie - among those nominated for the coveted "Scotland's Most Stylish Musician" gong!

Moving back to London in search of a band, Izo found her ideal foils in the shape of bassist Matthew Waer and drummer Ben Reed, who are affectionately known as The Royal Bastards. With influences that run from Ray Charles to Rage Against The Machine, Izo FitzRoy & The Royal Bastards combine highly technical piano melodies with jazz harmonies and intriguing lyrics that perfectly synthesize with her stunningly versatile and genuinely soulful voice.

Having secured a residency at The Troubadour Club in West London, Izo FitzRoy & The Royal Bastards are also appearing at a host of venues around the U.K, acquiring new devotees from the most unexpected of places. Veteran BBC anchorman Jon Snow is a fan, toasting Izo with the suitably pithy: "All power to her larynx!"
