Standardized -- At once obviously and not-so-apparently influenced by a dizzying array of musical styles from classic synthpop, Miami bass, moody 80s/90s rock, drum and bass, small-label punk, dirty pre-millenial speed/2-step garage, golden age hip hop, real electro and rose petal-dropping dark dance music, IOWATEST combines what feels like classic pop songwriting with found sounds and turntablism, electronic drum programming, pounding drum and bass-inspired low end mechanics and strikingly sophisticated lyrical allusions and imagery. This alluring combination and the appeal of IOWATEST as a live act has drawn in dance music and indie pop heads alike. With remix work done by some of the brightest electronic music darlings like Hallucination, John B, GENR8 and Orion, IOWATEST is covering all bases from the dancefloor to the darkened bedroom with their signature style of nearly-pop almost-electro.



Comprised of singer/songwriter/turntablist and lo-fi purist Moniker/Stacey Yi and infamous Miami drum and bass DJ/producer Mr. Mendez (EvilBase/BC Presents UK), this duo chuckles at the Eurythmics comparisons and seeks to put forth a catchy collage of everything good about music, creating genuine and heartfelt records that sing the melancholy nostalgia of DJ and club culture with tongue firmly planted in cheek.
