Most humans spend their entire lives searching. Whether it be their purpose, how to waste time, or pondering the trickle into life's abyss, their days dwindle as life begins its bludgeoning on the natural walls they've built. Some fall, while others rise to the occasion and confront life, standing firm on top of the walls, questioning what exactly life is attempting to unveil. At the fore front of this never ending battle within one's soul dwells hip hop philosopher, Wellis Fool.
Artist, producer, lyricist, photographer, and graphic/web designer are all woven hats worn by Wellis.
Fool, formerly known as Inkwell the Biologic, has been a student of lyricism for nearly ten years. He's gained his stripes for his contributions both poetically and aesthically to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania based artist collectives: Artists Over Industry and After.Words. Wellis, a seasoned performer of his craft, has toured the upper East Coast of the United States nomadically and has gained a solid fanbase local to Central PA from 5 years performing live at over 150 events. Beyond being a bachelor of arts, Wellis was also initiated as an honest business man, being one of the founders of Harrisburg based recording label, STLP, LLC.From everyday tasks to managing the label's artist roster, Wellis Fool has redefined the phrase, "jack of all trades, master of none". If becoming a master of the arts is priority, then Wellis Fool is building a solid granite foundation.
But do not be confused, Wellis Fool is a fierce, commanding lyricist on a mission to seek, and expose others to universal truths most teachers fail to reveal to their students. Politically tipped, honest, and passionate are words that merely scratch the surface to describe Wellis's artistic manifestations. After 5 years of group efforts with A.O.I. (Artists Over Industry), in 2008, along with a carefully selected group of musicians, Wellis released his debut solo full length, Better or Different. Pennsylvania based Shinbone Magazine gave the album critical acclaim by describing the project both "better, and different".
Following Better or Different, Wellis was featured on a slew of collaborative efforts, such as After.Words "Before the War" and a solo contribution titled, "Bachelor of Arts", included on the 2009 After.Words Maybe Maxi Single. Beside Maybe charting internationally on College Radio, Wellis's solo, "Bachelor of Arts" was picked up by Sirius Satellite radio's Subsoniq "Progressive Hip Hop Radio".
Despite critical success and single handedly creating a hip hop scene once non-existent in Central PA, all good chapters must have their closing sentence. In June of 2009, Wellis Fool's brainchild, STLP, closed its doors, with business and personal relationships remaining in tact.
Confusion? Throwing in the towel? Give in? All of these questions surrounded the disbanding of STLP. The artist once known as Inkwell the Biologic vanished into the shadowy alley ways of life's streets for nearly a year only to re-emerge as Wellis Fool. With a rejuvenated sense of being, and a deeper desire to share his passion with the world, Wellis self released his most focused piece to date in the form of "Pocket Full of Change". A record strictly dedicated to "change", Wellis definitely pulls more than a lint's worth of change from his pocket on the album. "PFOC" is the ultimate wake up call, and slap to the face of the world's current hideous routine.
With "Pocket Full of Change", Wellis has taken it back to the basics, by offering the project for free download via the internet to anybody willing to offer an attentive ear. With a past finally laid to rest, Wellis Fool is here to stay. But, the question still remains: Are you ready to stop hearing, and start listening?
