Formed in the late ‘70's, Industrial Cardboard is a shining example of a sketch comedy group gone wrong. The original group of Norm McLellan, Tim Morrissey and Mike Ropek was infiltrated by Skip Szciebövschiåczh and sent into a new musical direction. With bad song writing and bad musicianship, they weren't destined to be great rock icons. Instead they set their sights on being the best of the worst.
Five albums and no hit singles followed for no apparent reason other than they wanted to do them. Fortunately, no records or master tapes have survived the intervening years. During the recording of a proposed sixth album, a fifth member was added and this drove the band apart. From this point, they all went their separate ways thinking that they'd never record again.

Sometimes life can be stranger than wise, and by shear accident Norm, Tim and Mike bumped into each other and began reminiscing about the old days. All were bothered by the fact that none of the original recordings had survived. Norm hit upon the brilliant idea of doing a new recording of the best of the old badly written songs only this time, as Skip wasn't there to object, how about doing good recordings of them. They all agreed it was a good idea, and when suddenly Skip appeared, the group was complete.

The result was "Single Disc Boxed Set". It was meant to be several discs but when recording was completed, one C. D. was enough. The result was simple quirky songs given a polished shine they clearly don't deserve. As they'd all gone different musical directions in the intervening years, the styles for each song run all over the map. As a result one could say most of the songs won't appeal to most people, Skip thinks instead, there's something for everyone. Mike played the C. D. to a glass of milk and is pleased to say that it didn't curdle.

As for the future, one must rely on rumour and hearsay. The idea of another C. D. of newly written material has been discussed and it has even been hinted that new songs that are still quirky, but better written are now in the works. Old conflicts still remain in spite of the years and, as usual, one can never be sure when or if Skip will pop up. However, if they can get it together, the long dead sixth album, some say to be called "Think Inside The Box", could rise up from the ashes and cloud our horizon soon.
