Have you ever met an alien as lovely as Aisha? Actually the Belgium born, Texas bred girl with the soulful voice is an exotic sensation, but her poetry leaves no doubt. She is human enough to fall in love with.

Growing up in Texas gave Aïsha the chance to experience the land of gospel and soul, which compliments her African background. Intrigued by the dynamic sounds of gospel she spent most of her time in Texas singing in the church choir and performing in talent shows. She took this cultural heritage with her when she moved back to Europe.

Back in Europe she continued to school herself in the art of music by learning to play the piano. Only a tat later, while recording in a studio in Brussels, she was discovered by ‘Pita’, the urban music pioneer. This rapper/producer who is known to be the first ‘native tongue rapper’ in Belgium did not let his chance go by. Despite her young age he fell in love with the voice of this girl Aïsha, a star in the making. Seeing the potential of her performance he asked her to perform on the single of his first solo-album. The song ‘banden vervagen’ went on radio and television in 2006.

Due to the national exposure of ‘Banden vervagen’ Aïsha signed a contract with SONY/BMG, only to prove which has been known all along : these mayor labels don’t develop their artists. In her time at Sony Aïsha featured on two compilations. The lady-singer made a song for ‘Urban Tuning vol. 1’ called ‘Habibi’ and returned for the second instalment of the series with a group called ‘Equal’ and a song called ‘mumbling’. As I hinted earlier in this paragraph, the promising deal turned sour and Aïsha left the label to focus on her music again.

Since leaving Sony/BMG Aïsha has been in the studio with Pita again, working with the likes of Babybang, Dj Riddem and his Riddem Crew, J Beezy and the US-sensation Ill-Life.

Aïsha will have new material for all you alienated people. Spot her on the ‘Venus Project’ an all-female compilation which is to be released in June 2007 and is overseen by Pita.
