The name "Improv" means " I AMProvidence " simply because each and every one of us mc's / residents out here make this state what it is!!!!!.therefore we have the right to claim it! 101, CEO, creator, and owner was Born and raised in Providence/Pawtucket RI has been around for years in this RI based Hip-Hop scene, he used to go by the name of Ill-Funkshort for (Ill-Funk Freaka). Since the 90's, his right hand man/brother from another mother Sib a.k.a. 518 have been on the music scene doing what they do. Improv has done shows all around Providence / east coast /down south thru-out the years. 101 has provided production and studio time for many RI local artists such as.the first lady of Improv Records. Yoli, OMG, Pitt Bullit, Drunk Butla a.k.a. Boo Da Barber, Lady Isom, The ill Vill, Chachi,Young K.D, Bishop, Bloodlions, Shoni, Free Doe, Process, Money Baggs, Gauge Deezy, Black Malicone, Evil Black, Dime-A-Dozen, J. Doe, Lil Rick, Kwest, King Swagga, Winnie, Cook, Mark Messam, Cousin Freedom, Cosmic Crissy, Blob, Attica, Deez, and the list goes on.so if your from RI and you know any of these artists, you can check our stats with them to see how we get down. Improv is also responsible for naming one of RI's youngest, talented, and focused MC's on the riseYoung Jinsu.518 is Jinsu's godfather, so its easy to explain why he received his musical attribute from Improvwe love you baby boy, see you at the top! The two have been compared to greats as a hip hop duo such as Busta Rhymes / Spliff Starr, or Chuck D and Flavor Flav from Public Enemy !
101 is definatly one of RI's greatest mc's , his rhyme scheme cannot be measured or sized up by anyone out there . He is a quadrouple threat to this game ,heavy lyrics , bangin production , video-graphics,and engineering are his main focus 518 has been his /co-ceo /personal manager and hype man for more than 15 years now independently. Most of you folks reading this now are probably saying to yourself "Wow!these are my dogs right here" and are happy to see that Yes!.they are still on their grind and won't put this music down for nobody or nothing. I truly hope that world has their hearts, minds, and souls ready for what Improv is about to bring to the table, because 101 is on a mission to restore pure, original Hip-Hop to the forefront. "I feel that we should all think bigger than excepting that we are "underground" MC's because if your underground then that means your "underneath" and if your underneath something then that means there is something holding you down, in translation your being suppressed". I feel like Uncle Sam has brung the music game to the point where its nothing but kids talking about the same old shit. What happens when you leave a house full of children?a house full of childish things.and right now musically Uncle Sam has created a mansion full of kids. If there's no grown-ups around to teach these kids, then how do we ever expect Hip-Hop to restore itself? In the words of a good friend of mine "I feel like Hip-Hop was given to us as a gift from above, and it was such a personal & great gift from God that he expected us to be responsible with it!!!!!! So as an adult MC I will except my responsibility from God and play my part the right way. I would also encourage any other real MC to step up to the plate and do the same after all Power is in numbers! . as long as Improv is here on this earth hip hop is alive and breathing! People have always said that we would never live to see a black president.LOL.now we have one, and people also say that Hip-Hop is dead, so in that case let's show the world what reincarnation is all about.
