The End of an Era

Hey everyone, apologies for the silence from us over past months.

After over 6 years of blood, sweat and hundreds of laughs, we are sad to say that Impinge is no more.

We've gigged and gigged and written and recorded for nearly all of our teenage years, and now as we turn 20 so our interests and responsibilities change and we find that collectively we don't have the time to keep the band going as it was. Since we were 13 and still at school Impinge has been a huge part of our lives, and it will forever live within us (and on Dutch's tatoo on his back).

The 3 of us met up to discuss our future and decided that with everything else going on and with our free time becoming ever more precious, it was not fair on eachother or on our supporters to keep going as we have been. We've always wanted to end on a high, and so we decided that this is the right time to bring things to a close. There have been no arguments, no harsh words, no fights or rumours, just 3 good mates deciding to call it a day mutually, and push on with all their other endeavours. We are still all on great terms and no doubt you'll see us about elsewhere.

And that's really all there is to it I'm afraid! I (Ben) expected to be writing for hours about it and how empty it feels and how much we'll all miss it, but I think you only need to look at how far we've come and how much work we've put into it to just know that without me telling you. Its really sad, and we absolutely loved doing it. We had the best time and have no regrets, we met some great people and made friends that I'm sure we'll always know. We played at some crazy places and with some truly fantastic bands that we wish the very best of luck. There are nights at the Eve that will go down in history not only for us but I'm sure for a lot of people reading this too. Nights at the eve wern't just a place to come and listen to music, there were story lines, you met up, friendships were forged, drinks were downed, police were called, it was lost and saved, myspace was flooded with plugs from every which way, bands were launched, merch was flogged, you danced and moshed, and I hope most of all you listened to great local bands and had a laugh.

At this point it would seem appropriate to do our thank you's, but we have such a massive amount of people to thank that its difficult to do so in a heartfelt and genuine way. We hope that each and everyone of you reading this will take it as personally as we want you to, for we really seriously could not have got anywhere without all of you who helped. We would like to holeheartedly thank every single person who came to a gig, told someone about us, bought a CD, had a chat with us, booked us, commented on myspace, put us in their top 8, said hi in the street, listened to us and that will miss us. To everyone who listened to one of our songs and felt it meant something to them, the songs are yours to have forever and will remain on our Myspace (below) for free download until someone at Myspace HQ decides to remove them. They were written for you to hear and we hope that in 10-20 years time when you all have families of your own (in in some cases grandchildren of your own!) you'll play them this band you knew when you were a kid on ancient 'CDs' and they'll think you're all lame.

Lastly, we'd all like to thank our family and friends and everybody who had any influence on us whatsoever, and if you think you should be thanked, thank you too.

Much love to all,

Keep supporting the local scene and letting us know how you're getting on,
