Winnipeg metal act Illusive Mind Gypsy Crew is proud to present Vagrant Moth Three, the third and final installment of a musical trilogy started in 2006. This ambitious recording is a stern demonstration of the band's imagintive take on heavy music. Featuring three main pieces of psychedelic influenced metal, the album uses mountainous riffs and epic melodies to narrate a vivid musical adventure. To achieve this they expose promiscuous collabortation habits with an 18 voice choir and instrumentalists sparing no expense to build towering layers of percussion, organ, synthesizer, violin, and horns.
Essentially an art collective, the IMGC community has a reputation for performances expected to include video manipulation, auxillery musicians, and the occasional costumed character. This multi-media approach has brought invitations to perform at heavy metal festivals and art exhibitions alike. With several Canadian tours under their belt, IMGC finds affectionate reviews and support from the nation's metal scene. Expect to see them on the road this coming July and August.
REVIEWS:
"Communal, do-it-yourself, mythopoetic art-metal sounds like a mouthful, but the band takes it all in stride." - Ryan Suche, The Uniter. '09
"Heavy metal hippies? It may sound like an oxymoron, but Illusive Mind Gypsy Crew have put the paradox into practice." - Jared Story, Uptown Magazine. '09
"What would it sound like if Bob Dylan collaborated with Tool? A strange question to be sure, but one that's at the heart of Illusive Mind Gypsy Crew (IMGC), a Winnipeg collective." - Aaron Epp, The Uniter. '08
"A metal band from Winnipeg that successfully fuses tribal folk rhythms with heavy metal guitar. many try, few succeed. The notion of the heavy metal jam band rarely flies. but I challenge you to listen to this bands tracks here on the interweb and tell me this won't be one of the most interesting heavy shows to come around since we first laid eyes on Ekatree" - The Townehouse Tavern in Sudbury. '08

"A true triumph in avant-garde metal."
— Jared Story (Uptown Magazine)
