Illoquint Bio

Over the last few years there has been a change in the music business. Album sales and innovative compilations are on the decline while creativity is increasingly sacrificed for quick profit. Breaking out of the mold is a Seattle-based, award-winning producer/songwriter, who has taken on the moniker “Illoquint".

Illoquint has been making music for over 10 years with a flair for Urban Pop, Hip-Hop, and R&B Soul. He seamlessly transitions between the genres, which is easily credited to his musically-inclined adolescence. Starting as a Hip-Hop artist at 14, he had taught himself to play the piano by 18, and by the age of 19, was awarded in city-wide competitions for his productions. The ear he has today for arranging unique and full harmonies is also heavily influenced by his experience singing in a demanding vocal jazz ensemble during his high school years.

“ILL” has become a “who's who” among the producers and songwriters from his region. Not to be slighted by his peers, his resume may not be star-studded but it is thick. Having scored a commercial for the Seattle NBC affiliate King 5, he has produced music for Neo-Soul heavy hitter Choklate (Me Music), Geo-logic of Blue Scholars (Duck Down Records), Mycle Wastman and the popular Tampa-based Radio Personality/ Spoken Word Artist "Lizz Straight" (88.5 WMNF). He was also one of the top contenders in the Seattle Chapter of the nationally recognized Red Bull Big Tune Beat Battles, and has won the Music Honoree Award at Seattle’s Festival Sundiata event (2007), and “Best Producer” at the Inside The Music (ITM) Awards (2006). With personal accolades from Seattle-based platinum producer J-Hen of Tha Bizness (Drake, R.Kelly), producer Derek Clark (Omarion, Ruben Studdard), and Vitamin D (Young Buck, Redman), there’s no wonder why Illoquint carries himself as if he has already “Made It”.

Studying his personal greats like Dr. Dre, Jermaine Dupree, Quincy Jones, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Illoquint has made it his business to create the kind of songs artists want to record and perform to. He distinctively makes music without being pigeonholed by a "signature sound,” and strives for each track to tell a different story, and incite a different emotion from the listener. In 2008, his first local single "Radio" featuring artists Portia Monique and S.K. “The King,” was played on Seattle’s KUBE 93.3 FM and was in heavy rotation on Chicago Based Itunes radio station worldviberadio.net. The hit was also the number one requested song on X104.5 FM (now 88.9 HOT JAMZ), and various DJ Playlists for Sirus XM Radio programs. Upcoming projects include an exclusive Mixtape by new artist Aquino hosted by DJ Green Lantern (x Shady Records), with features like Royce Da 5’9 (Slaughterhouse), and Glasses Malone (Sony Records). He is also producing some music for an upcoming album by the North West’s number one Neo-Soul artist Choklate.

Illoquint plans to gain international recognition as a multi-genre producer/songwriter. Make music for the more known artists whatever the style. Be known for his ability to develop an artist and produce music that will specifically cater towards that artist’s personality and sound. His musical “ear” beat making skills, and song-writing abilities make him the hope of the aspiring artist and the need of today’s music.
