Ill Grill was born in Nuremberg, son of a native German woman and of a U.S. soldier. One year after his birth, his parents and Michael moved to the U.S.A., the country where his father originated from. The German-American Michael spent three years of his childhood with his family in North Carolina.



After his parents got separated, his mother and Michael returned to his birthplace Nuremberg (Germany). Their financial resources were short and after spending several years in another country, the integration process for the grieving mother and the disrooted child were difficult.

Growing into his adolescent years his relationship towards the music also grew: „Since I was able to think, music was around me’’. Through music he found out a great deal about his personality. During this process of socialization he learned, how to express all his thoughts, attitude and values. The music and he became a unbreakable unit, a symbiotic relationship manifested itself.



In the past years ILL GRILL became a firm, well known and unforgetable force in the Nuremberg Hip Hop scene. Due to several diverse guest appearances, the young artist received a positive reputation. He has been heard on various mixtapes, plus has a positive and very expressional stage performance.



The rapper was able to evolve as a artist and also as a individual. He sharpened his skills and style using all the musical experience.



Late summer 2004, ILL GRILL released his debut album "History", containing productions from Ronin, Peak, Kaspa Hauser and DJ Smoove. The extremely versatile album features Amar, Cofix, Saskia, B.A.G.I. and Noo Age on 14 tracks, intro, outro and a hidden track.

After being released the album was successfully put into the hands of fans, alongside a positive promotion and several live shows. The track "Theme Song" was heard on the Juice CD Vol. 46 (10/2004). ILL GRILL was reviewed in various magazines (f.e. Juice), online (f.e. Rap.de, MTV.de), as well as local and national television ("Holla" on Franken TV, and "GIGA" on NBC).



After promoting "History" and showing and proving on stage ILL GRILL took a time out to plan the next movement.



In 2006 GRILL signed with the Independent Label "Hollaback Productions". The owner of the label is formaly known as "NBG's Most Wanted" DJ Polique. Ever since the signing they started to work on their first project together. The title for the mixtape is "Mission Impossible". The release date is set on august 2007. It features various artists across the globe.



"Mission Impossible" is only the start. Just keep your eyes and ears open.
