Idioterne es una de las bandas mejor compactadas que han surgido del underground madrileño en los últimos años, concretamente de la canallada nocturna de Malasaña (actual nido del punk rock nacional) y de la barriada Alameda de Osuna, donde se han labrado la fama de apisonadora a base de contagio colectivo por sus intensas canciones y conciertos técnicamente impecables.

La historia de Idioterne nace con el encuentro entre Vick Lindström (voz y guitarra), de orígen sueco, que combina su residencia entre Brighton y Madrid, con Migui (bajo) y Juan A. (batería), rockeros apasionados del post hardcore e indie rock que tras la disolución de At the drive-in -uno de sus grupos de cabecera- deciden dar rienda suelta a toda la rabia y emociones contenidas. Largas tardes de verano en un garage asfixiante verán como el grupo comienza a crear canciones impregnadas de su actitud, pasión, sudor y esfuerzo, que dan como resultado un disco potente y vigoroso, con nervio, punzante, muy en la línea de bandas como Queens of Stone Age, Stone Temple Pilots o The Clash. Entre sus últimos logros: el premio Emergenza a la mejor banda española, la inclusión en un recopilatorio británico de nuevos valores o la selección de su tema “Jive” en el spot publicitario de Fórmula 1.

The idea to form Idioterne came about as a result of the friendship between Vick Lindström (vocals & guitar), Swedish by origin, now living a nomadic lifestyle toing and froing between Madrid and Brighton, with Migui (bass) and Juan A. (drums). In true rock ‘n’ roll tradition things started to take shape in a garage–cum-rehearsal room with the long, hot Madrid afternoons spent perfecting their craft and impregnating their songs with attitude, passion and sweat. From there it was on to the first concerts and the band competitions, where suddenly Idioterne found themselves hailed as the next breakthrough band, winning the prestigious Emergenza competition among others. It’s not hard to see why they have become so popular.

The wide range of influences, such as The Clash, Stone Temple Pilots, Queens of the Stone Age and early Police have rapidly led Idioterne towards becoming a new point of reference on the national rock market, revitalizing the genre within Spain, and further a field performing at such renowned festivals as Festimad and Popkomm.

After being pursued by several companies finally Idioterne have opted to sign for PuPilo Records. The homonymous debut LP packs a powerful punch, transmitting all the nervous energy and electricity of the live shows to the studio and mixing it up with finely tuned vocal melodies and guitar arrangements. Tracks such as “Jive” – selected by Pepe Jeans for a European wide ad campaign, and included in the TV spots promoting the Formula 1 2008 season – demonstrate the potential of a band destined to become an icon on the Spanish alternative rock scene.
