Hurts to Laugh

Hurts to Laugh is the Nashville, Tennessee based surf-metal duo waging stoner jihad in the rhinestone buckle of the bible belt. Unable to find capable musicians that shared the vision of danceable naive subterfuge, lead-singing lead-drummer Cliff Cobain struggled to perfect his minimalist existential anthems of angst. Lead guitarist Kurt Burton was discovered when, through a mutual friend, both were invited to showcase heavy metal dual guitars in a zombie parody outfit. The duo has since delivered four national tours, a self-released self-titled full-length record, and two music videos for the band's singles 'I Tried' and 'Na Na Na'. Their connection to skateboard culture has earned them valuable press in San Francisco based Lowcard Magazine and footage documenting their flaming drum-set at Skatopia has given the band undeniable street cred. Their next batch of songs are perfect up-tempo downers, each on a cocaine buzz-kill skateboarding with a broken ankle. Plans for the future include the completion their full-length EP "Gnarbage", a network television travel show, and a bid for Tennessee gubernatorial candidacy under the Cocktail Party.
