HOW FAR TO AUSTIN

.When Chicago's HOW FAR to AUSTIN couldn't find a category to identify with, they decided to create their own - "we call it pop, rock 'n soul' " says guitarist/songwriter Tate Troelstrup " rock influenced songs laced with hooky, memorable soul infused melodies." Maybe it is the thunderous alternating male/female lead vocals, or the rhthym section's time together playing in a gospel church, but whatever it is caught the ear of producer Stuart Epps (Led Zeppelin, Oasis, Elton John) who said "HOW FAR to AUSTIN sound to me like Fleetwood Mac with a heavy helping of soul".
Coming off a winter acoustic tour that saw the 3 piece HOW FAR to AUSTIN - TRIO play over 60 shows throughout the midwest, the full 7 member line is hard at work getting ready for a busy summer festival tour while also introducing their new e.p. GOODNIGHT MADISON recorded with producer Steve Gills (Filter, Naked Raygun) at Transient Sound. Released in early 2011, the first single from the e.p. also titled GOODNIGHT MADISON is currently climbing the CMJ charts and the music video was released in early March.
HOW FAR to AUSTIN has been fortunate enough to have shared the stage with so many excellent artists it is hard to list them all, but heck, we'll try: Tonic; Eddie Money; The Avett Brothers; Bela Fleck & the Flecktones; Sugar Ray; Hello Dave; The Nadas; Mr. Blotto; Sonny Landreth; Dr. Dog; Freddy Jones Band; and many more!
