In 1906 in a downtown toilet block in the Rocks, Sydney a strange and puzzling piece of humanity was found cowering under a sink. In 1916 a comet blazed its way into a Chicago surburban bedroom and a strange and puzzling piece of humanity hid under an 8 year olds bed while he dreamt of the end of walls and the beginning of fences.



In 1926 a strange and puzzling piece of humanity was still fighting invisible soldiers in a trench in the Somme.In 1936 in Berlin a burlesque show unveiled a strange and puzzling piece of humanity that never spoke and had a large white hat.



In 1946 in the port of Stavanger a snow sweeper stumbled on a strange and puzzling piece of humanity at 3 am who appeared to be eating books. In 1956 an observatory in London swore they saw a star shaped like a strange and puzzling piece of humanity with a yellow tie.



In 1966 the Beatles saw a strange and puzzling piece of humanity appear in India while smoking with their guru. It told them of the coming revolution and quoted Walt Whitman.



In 1976 David Bowie on cocaine forgot who he was and what music he had made. He later claimed that a strange and puzzling piece of humanity had visited him that year with smeared lipstick and tattoos of runes.



In 1986 during the Australian tour by Culture Club a fan in Melbourne saw Boy George kissing a strange and puzzling piece of humanity backstage with painted green nails. In 1996 in the Atlantic Ocean a statue was discovered of a strange and puzzling piece of humanity which appeared to be grinning and crying at the same time.



In 2006 in Queensland a whole town swear that a strange and puzzling piece of humanity who looked like an old world witch doctor had hypnotised them all into believing again in magic. They no longer believe in science and now run naked into the night coveting the word.



Ghostboy has returned



Ghostboy is the debauched tenant and bent alter-ego of poet David Stavanger. Ghostboy won the Nimbin Performance Poetry World Cup in 2005 and was runner-up in 2007 in the process establishing himself as one of Australia’s most innovative spoken "weird" artists. He also operates as QLD’s “slammaster” including captaining the first QLD Slam Poetry team at the 2006 Sydney Writers Festival and coordinating two of the nations biggest slam events in the Australian Poetry Slam (Queensland heats and final) and the WordFood slam and spoken word showcase held as part of the Woodford Folk Festival. Describing himself as a hybrid of performance poetry, spoken word theatre, and surrealist vaudeville Ghostboy has often performed his work live on ABC & Triple J radio and was the first Australian to have work selected for The Spoken Word Revolution (2nd Ed) which showcased the worlds best spoken word artists. In recent years he has been a regular at various festivals including the Brisbane Writers Festival, Byron Writers Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Overload Poetry Festival and NightWords at the Sydney Opera House. The Daily Telegraph recently described him as "an underground star".

Ghostboy's debut album - If I Were a R"N"R Girlfriend - recorded with his muses Golden Virtues was released in 2006 and received Triple J airplay with a new EP set to come out soon. Together they have featured at Woodford Folk Festival, the Brisbane Cabaret Festival, The Zoo & The Tivoli as well as upcoming shows as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival. 2009 will also see the realease of ENTER - the debut Ghostboy with Golden Virtues sonic & aural inefction.
